Just got it today, and I have to say...This. Kicks. Ass. Royally. A few notes...

-They may not be zombies, but it's just as fun blowing them to kingdom come, especially with all the weapons and ammo!
- MUCH more faster paced than other RE games, and more action oriented. Soooo fun.
- I'm right around level 1-3. I have to admit, it seems a little easy for me so far. However, I also haven't gotten to the first boss yet. I've heard there is about 10 altogether.
- The Merchant Guy = Pwn. Even his voice is awesome.
- No more item boxes. Instead, Leon has an attache case. You can also buy bigger cases from our friend, Mr. Merchant.
- Weapons can be adjusted for firing rate, magazine sizes, and power.
- I have also not seen Ada Wong in game yet...Oh well...

The high ratings are definitely deserved. Glad to see they're on a Resident Evil title again. So, who else has it / played it?

EDIT: For a few extra details...

Merchant = Leon? ... sorry, not too knowledgable about the RE series ... last time I played RE2 was like 6 years ago.

Well I can't say I've played the game, but I will say I've heard only -amazing- things about it, and so far I've yet to see it get a bad review, most of them are very high almost perfect.

From the looks of it though, is it more action oriented compared to the others? Regardless, this game looks too kickass to worry about that.

Leon pwns + Capcom pwns + Resident Evil pwns = Awesome probably?

I'm definitely wanting to buy it once I get enough cheese.

My copy should come today. I paid for 2-day air shipping... Pre-ordered from GameStop.com, they shipped sometime on Monday. Getting tons of goodies. GameStop has a soundtrack bonus for the game, but pay $10 more and you get loads of other stuff that seemed fine, neat, and nifty. Can't wait to play the game...

And what is up with this? RE4 chainsaw controller? Ha! NubyTech's PS2 Street Fighter controllers are great, but this thing here sounds a bit ridiculous. I wonder exactly how you use it...

Update: Got it, but GameStop didn't ship me the soundtrack. :\ Sent an email about it... Uuuggghhh. Nice tin though...

EDIT (again): Apparently the soundtrack is the one for RE: Apocalypse and not a game soundtrack. Now I don't feel so mad I didn't get it...but still, I am a bit mad. ;p

Gonna go play the game now. :D

It would seem that my talk about the game being too easy was a bit...premature. Just got to fighting the Village Chief....still pretty easy.

The Chainsaw controller looks kickass, but as far as gimmick controllers go, I'd rather ave the FFX-2 guns.

Played almost 11 1/2 hours game time so far, and that was all yesterday. (Well, I mean, I played till about 6 a.m. this morning...but I hadn't slept yet, so I still count it as yesterday! I did sleep when I stopped, though...) Actual play time is longer (taking into account the times I've died, or even reloaded and stuff like that). This game is AWESOME. Freakin' sweet. Everyone with a GameCube ought to own it. It's probably my favorite GCN game.

The Good News: I'm at the Castle, got at least 5 full boxes of Shotgun shells so I can kill pretty much anything, and I FINALLY found an old friend.

The Bad News: I'm stuck in a cage surrounded by ganado, and trapped with a Wolverine-Roids Man.

Help me, Ada...

That cage part is a synch: I just decided to flee. :P Break the lock and go go go!

All those enemies in the castle sound like they're saying "cockhead."

Yes this game is definately worth getting. I don't have it yet, just on reserve, but I will get it soon. The most anticipated GameCube title.

What's neat that Capcom did about the game, is since the game engine is different from previous RE's, even people who have never played RE before, and wind up liking this game, might want to go back and get the other REs. It was a smart decision.

Well, I can tell you why everyone is crazied, but I don't want to spoil anything.

I don't pick up GC controllers, ever, so it would be nice to know the intricasies of the story line.

And if people pick up this game and love it, they're going to go back, pick up RE2 or RE3: Nemesis. Then they'll go WTF!?

Not exactly. You never know. The first Megaman game I ever played was Megaman X, and I didn't even like Megaman. But, I liked X, so I decided to look into the other MM games, and I actually enjoyed them. That's how I became a Megaman fan.

Eh, there are plans to bring it to PS2 despite what the producer said, it just... Won't exactly be for awhile. So, you don't have to get a GameCube.

We're talking about RE. The controls are far too dated for people to enjoy the old games.

Bah, as long as it has good camera angles I'm fine.

Doesn't it have a fully rotatable camera view now?

Xeogred: Yes, you can adjust your camera angle... somewhat. You really can't see that well behind you which adds to the creepy factor. Nothing is better than walking, turning around, and getting my head chopped off by a crazed chainsaw guy.

I don't really like the RE series except the story... and RE4. This game is more action oriented and creepier. Plus, shooting/kicking someone in the head at the right time is really cool.
*sees heads explode*
Plus the fact it is a horror game, which is not my kind of genre. Hmmm...

Horror games I like:
Eternal Darkness
Resident Evil 4

Yeah... my list is that small...
