Legion, even $15/month adds up. That's $180/year. I have REAL bills to pay, a house to buy, a car to buy, a family to support & take care of.

And even if I DID have all kinds of mad money, I STILL wouldn't pay. There is absolutly NO reason to pay. None at all.

Um, yes there is. It costs a hell of a lot of money to run those servers and hire staff to run the game year round. If they didn't charge they'd be taking a huge hit.

And it's well beyond worth it. I checked my play time last night and in just little over a month, I have 255 hours logged in. That's about 5 of your standard console RPG's. Which, at full price, comes to 250 dollars.

Again, it's well worth it.

Those $15/month keeps lame people like knuck away from MMORPGs

I'd say that's a good reason

Never played that far into the game, did you?
I gave it 3-4 days. I found a tan blob with a happy face and a strong green blob with a happy face. I also found midget anime orcs. and evil monkeys. I DID play the game for about 3-4 days before I just told myself it was terrible and sucked.

If they can't afford to do that, then they shouldn't have made the game. Simple as that.

Um, Elric... it is a fact. Face it, solely selling the game doesn't pay the server bills or the staff to keep it running. *IF* the staff is constantly employed and has to constantly work on new features and content, then you'd take a loss on the game after a matter of months.

Besides, Blizzard didn't think they'd have to put up so many servers.

If only it was 7 bucks, maybe even 10. That would be a LOT less totally evil. I might have played it then, but probably not. It takes too long to make a bloody character. ;.

My vote is f*ck yeah, ladies.

I'm in university, I get below existance minimum, I have to support 2 people and pay rent. I can still afford to put away what I need for WoW and be able to buy other things. It's really nothing. If you can afford 10$ you can afford 15$.
Blizzard has around 80 servers if I'm not wrong, and that's only for the US. It costs and it costs alot, they also have round the clock GM's. No way can just a simple gamebox cost pay all that.
Welcome to the world of REAL MMORPG's.

I just dropped $80,000 on a house. I have a car. I have a daughter. I have phone, cable, and electric bills.

And Colleen: The fact that Blizzard didn't think they'd have to have so many servers tells me that they're blind. Obviosuly, they failed to noticed the hype & HORDES of drooling fanboys waiting for this game. The only WarCraft I've played was the one for PSX, which sucked, and even I knew WoW was goona be freakin' HUGE, player-wise.

Regardless, let's agree to disagree. "REAL" MMORPGs, as Jizuko called them, are crap, IMO (<-- Very Important. Do Not Miss!), and I doubt that my opinion will change any time soon. After all, it took 11 years of dislike for ANY MMORPG, before I changed my mind, thanks to Adventure Quest, and TwilightRO. Don't hold your breath waiting for me to come pay to play.

And look at the bight side: With me not liking or playing play to pay games, that's one less person to fill the server. Of course, 100 other people will jusp to take the spot that would have been mine, but that's the way it works...

Ragnarok is one of the best mmorpg's I have experienced which is saying something. I really enjoy playing this game on private servers, I do not like the way gravity runs iRO; nothing personal, its just I do not like thier over all way of running things.

But yes, I do enjoy RO.

tRO's staff kicks iRO's staff's asses, hands down.

These GM's actually listen to the character's problems, not saying "Well, too bad, I'm not paid to do that." Although I'm sure that some of iRO's peoples don't say that, I've seen it happen before.

Of course, tRO does it completely and utterly free, so they're doing it only for sheer enjoyment, and respect.
