School for me is OK but getting more frustrating. I'm in my final year of GCSEs in Year 11, I already have two from some express schemes my school offer (I did French and Statistics last year, got a C in the former and B in the latter ). I was going quite well until my mock GCSEs started, and I absolutely failed. My predicted grades from the last few years were As and Bs, and an A* for Maths and English, since I was highest in my year for English 3 years running and got a 6.7 on my ellis test, another high. When I got my grades back I looked at them and positively weeped:

English- A (Good)
Maths- B (not bad)
Science- D (poor)
Extra Science- D (poor)
Japanese- F (atrocious, but Japanese isn't exactly a piece of cake after just a year)
PE- A (very surprised, good)
History- B (not bad)
Art- D (poor)
Design et Technology- E (worst grade in the year... just 32%. Considering I want to become an aerodynamicist when I'm older, that's just a tad worrying).

Okay, so 2 As and 2 Bs at mock stage isn't bad. But the number of Ds, Es and Fs I got has really got to me, and Ive had my first detentions in years today after I missed a coursework deadline. I did get a perfect 27/27 on the second English paper but the English lit. was horrible... anyone else here doing GCSEs?

WTF...
...WTF
WT ULTIMATE F

Today was Senior day at school, and this is my last semester.

I didn't know that my mom was there talking to my guidance counselor while I was buying my gown and all that. I heard her talking on the phone saying that the guidance counselor was like "Well, don't tell anyone, but Justin got all the credits he needed last semester, and didn't even have to come to school this semester." And she hasn't told me, although I know, and wants me to keep going so I "don't sit around the house and become a lazy bum".

That is the max fucked up! </inspectorfuckupstyle>

No, really, that's just fucked up in many ways. There are several things you could do if you weren't at school, like get a job, help out, or go to college.

I only start again on January 24th. I'll be going into my 4th semester of college. So far it seems the only courses I'll have besides 5 computer science courses are Badminton and Video 1.

Can't you get a loan? My brother is going to Concordia and he was able to get about $2000 CDN for each semester. He's taking 4 courses and it pretty much covers all of the costs.

Oh no no no no. I'm not getting caught in any of that loan business.

I *have* money, it's just that I now have considerably less money.

You lucky bastard! Living at home and going to University has to be the best thing you can ask for; studying and trying to survive thousands of miles away from home is hell, especially when you want to contend to pure academics.

Well- back on topic.

Schools been strange for me. I recently transferred schools because my highschool was 2 hours away from me- and I couldn't handle it anymore. I went to a music school, which was amazing. I'm still in Chorus now- but I'm itching to get a private instructor. I play guitar and a little bit of the piano.

I love school though. I love learning, and I love my friends. I may be the only person in my school who loves to learn though. Most people come to school baked or hung over where I live.. and most people in my classes who don't know me probably think I'm an annoying dork. But I could care less-- there's over 5,000 people in my school.. after these classes I'll prolly never see most of them again.. Which is weird. I don't have any of my friends in my classes.. except my sister is in my Spanish Class.. which is just weird. Cool though.

Anyways. If you're going to get baked- don't come to school. That's the only thing that really bothers me about my school. That and the frequent amount of fights over dumb things. No joke- I was standing in the locker room waiting for the bell to ring because they wouldn't let us out. And this one girl goes "why are you staring at me?" to this really preppy cheerleader bitchy girl.. and the girl goes back to her "because you're fat".. And they started screaming at each other and got into a fist fight. That was annoying- I was like 20 minutes late for lunch. And there's a "racial" war going on in my school. It's just an excuse to hate people for no reason-- I hate it it's so pointless and dumb.

Oh and this one time in my MathB class this girl goes..
"what's a line segment?"
Not kidding either.

Well.... I'm no longer at school, and I haven't been since 1997.

But school was a very frustrating experience for me. Maybe I had a bad attitude, maybe I'm just one of those people for whom the schooling system doesn't help, but... well... me and school -- was like fitting a square peg into a round hole.

In my senior years, I used to come to school "baked". It was a coping mechanism -- but not a very good one.

I have to finish a big project in two weeks, and I really hadn't done that much work to be honest... and considering it's one of the most important things to finish in school. If I fail I have to redo a year or something.

It will wind up being good thought, i'm good at doing things quickly when it's emergency. <<;

OK, I guess the bumped thread'll have some use.

This week is midterm week. Yuck.

Monday: Nothing! (Well, school but no tests.)
Tuesday: One test in the afternoon.
Wednesday: Same as Tuesday but it's my only class of the day.
Thursday: Back-to-back (with a 3 hour break) midterms.
Friday: Start of my 10-day "reading week".

Oh, and I need to fit an online assignment somewhere in that timeframe.

I have a big-ass test on wednesday and I have to read through 47 pages.

I read 24 of them during this weekend, though.

Ha, only 30 minutes (give or take depending on bus schedules, but it roughly works out to that) each way for me.

Granted, I can't exactly do a lot of studying during the commute, but I can at least look over key concepts before tests.

This has to do with school...sorta. The buses where 1 hour late or something like that so I missed the first lesson due to that.

Cold as heck outside too.

I used to travel 2 hours to and from school everyday.. and then I said "This is only highschool".. So I go to my local highschool now. It's not so bad- and I'm doing better because I'm not so stressed out and tired from all the travelling. But it sounds like your in college.. too bad you can't dorm or get an apartment closer to your school or something.. =(
