Is there a function not to show a forum on the main page ? I rarely go to SMW Hacking, Anime, etc, ... Is there an option so those forums won't appear. It would be easier to navigate through the forums I go to.

A temporary solution would be to click the heading of the board section you want to see. For example, if you clicked on the 'General' heading, it would just show General Chat through Help / Suggestions. You can also click other board section headings from there, to view the other areas. I'm not completely sure, but I don't think there's an option to disable the viewing of individual sections, like the SMW Hacking area and such Maybe someone else knows otherwise though |

I know there is a Favorites thing, but that just shows threads you choose. It would be nice to have a Favorite Forum thing. Probably easy to code, but expect something in 2006.

You're not the first one to ask for such a feature. LINK (edited by Smallhacker on 01-05-05 04:18 PM) |

The idea seems stupid to me. Why should we waste even more database space just because some random person is too lazy to roll his scrollwheel or push PgDown a few times?

Originally posted by SmallhackerA small tip, use board.acmlm.org instead. You never know if that adress stops working one day. For being honest, it's easy to do. But on the other hand, there really isn't that many forums on this board. Is it really that big matter? |

I don't know why people talk about wasting space. Delete inactive users, unused themes, and other stuff and there will be more free space. Its not like that much space would be taken up anyway. The search feature, that would waste a lot of space.

Too add something to what Xk wrtoe in caps: it would increase the mySQL usage, thus making it slower.

An even better idea is to relative links. eg: <a href="thread.php?id=6986&pl=138270">LINK</a>. That way, the link works regardless of what domain and path the board is accessed with. Originally posted by Super FKitten Yiffer Man! because the board already waste's DB space, appx 35 fields or whathaveyou, on the user table. it would only take 1 extra field, set bits in an integer for each forum's status. 1=show, 0=don't show. 1111101 <== show general, skip newbie, show officers, show debate, et cetera.... personally i wouldn't use it, but it's no more silly than half the other things that have made their way into the board system. |
