| You can't unlock hacks, you have to know the bytes which may unlock the hack, but you won't be able to open the hack and view the levels with the right GFX, nobody has done that and why not search for the thread? Can someone close this? |

| What most people with fond dreams of unlocking a hack don't realize is that more than just a few bytes are changed in the rom. The actual level format is slightly changed, making it nearly impossible to unlock a hack with an IPS patch unless you have the unlocked version to make it with. | |||

| Well the only reasons one would want to unlock the hack are to rip levels or graphics, figure out the ASM hacks, or find secrets, and there are problems with all of these. The levels are encrypted so even if you got LM to open them, they wouldn't look right unless you actually cracked the encryption too (and everyone would know). The graphics could be ripped in other, much easier ways. The ASM hacks are most likely not related to the hack being locked but probably are designed for the specific type of ROM used (ExHiROM I think), so they wouldn't work in the type LM saves in. (The public version won't save in that format.) And there's a FAQ available which I'm sure would be much easier, or you could just cheat. | |||

And I just wanted to see if it was possible to unlock a hack, which it is. People got pissed at me for doing it, so I wont post the two bytes, but I will tell you there are right near the...games name in hex? if you search Super Demo in a hex editor (having SDW open) the bytes are very close by that. I have it written down somewhere what the bytes were.... Anyway, dont bother trying. Its not worth it, you can't see corect graphics, you get lots of errors etc. The only real thing you can get out of it is seeing the level layout, which is sometimes messed up anyway  |

| Kei, your method unlocks the hack, yes, by removing the flag LM looks for that says "This hack is locked." However, it's still in the altered format that LM doesn't read. You would need a different patch for every ROM, changing the same two bytes every time recovers nothing. |
