I was so eager to get this. I am a big Zelda fan. When I started it it seemed alright. But it's more of a multi-player game... They could have made that a little clearer in the case details... Anyone else had this complaint?

It... Was... Obvious?

Meh, it's still hella fun in single player.

But yeah, multiplayer is simply kickass.

Wait, are we talking about the GC game or the GBA game here?

The GC game actually has a decent single-player (unlike the trash that is Crystal Chronicles... blah), and can be entertaining enough if you're unable to play with others. The GBA game, however, doesn't have singleplayer at all. Yeah, it kinda sucks, but if you think about how the game works, it would be impossible to play it alone (you can play alone on an emulator, though it's a bitch to control, and you have to abuse savestates in order to survive enough to get the required amount of rupees. But, it works).

As for the GC game, the Japanese original is a lot better than the US one. Someone appearantly decided that Navi Trackers, an extremely fun party game that beats Mario Party any day, isn't something you english-speaking people would want, so they simply ditched it. Boo. So import. It's worth it.

I actually prefer it in single player...but that's probably because the people I tried multiplayer with had to spend at least a couple of minutes beating the crap out of each other before moving onto the next screen. The game really is lots of fun by yourself, though, especially if you're a fan of Link to the Past. The dungeon puzzles aren't as complex as they are in other Zelda games (because that would have made things horrendously annoying for multiple players), but it's still worthwhile to play alone. When I first got the game, I played through it myself in a weekend because I couldn't put it down.

You know, you're the only person I've seen who thinks Navi Trackers isn't complete and utter trash.

Anyway, the reason it was dumped is most likely because of the name you enter being synthesized and spoken by Tetra, something that would be relatively impossible to do in English.

Yeah The Cube version... It's almost like that old game... "Lost Vikings"... I hate that you have to pick up an item and drop the one your already carrying. I'm stuck in a part that I need the 'rang but can't get back to it... I'm thinking about restarting... It's pretty badass when you get all four Link's spin attack -fully- charged, and they go like into a berserker.

Unless you managed to glitch the game or something, don't restart. You might not actually need the boomerang for what you're doing. (I thought I needed a different item to kill a certain boss, so I redid the level...but it turns out that they had placed the correct item nearby and I wasn't using the proper technique against the boss.) If you do, there's either a way to get back to it or another boomerang item placed somewhere that you can reach it.

What's worse than all of this?

- Only owning a DS, not a GBA.
- Owning Four Swords

Why? It's literally impossible for me to get access to the Four Swords Dungeon in LttP, which was almost my entire intent of why I wanted the game in the first place.

Meh, oh well. LttP alone is still an awesome game regardless.

Edit: Oh the GC version? It looked cool.

Come on, would it be THAT complicated to have her yell "green Link", "red Link", ect. in english instead of whatever name you enter?

And I've met a lot of people who like Navi Trackers. Can't see why it would be that unpopular.

the GBA four swords game is decent, provided you have somebody else to play it with. the thing i liked about its adventure mode is that you CANNOT hurt the other players unless you drop them into pits or something, so you are forced to cooperate sometimes to have any fun, and the world is huge so each person can do his own thing instead of clearing a dungeon screen by screen waiting for your friends to finish each other off before going to the next.

and here lies the problem with the GC multiplayer adventure mode. with single player it is not bad, but in multiplayer, the way it's set up, especially with the attitude toward fighting between me and my friends, we couldn't get three screens into the dungeon without it turning into pure deathmatch. now all we play in multiplayer is shadow battle. makes a helluva lot more sense, don't it?

Yeah, it does. I played a few rounds of the battle mode with the same people, and I liked it much better than multiplayer adventure mode. I never played the GBA game, but from your description of its multiplayer adventure mode, I think I would enjoy it. I guess they changed things around for the GC version because they wanted the main action to take place on the TV and "indoor" spaces to be shown on each person's GBA, and it would have gotten way too confusing to have the TV split into multiple screens so everyone could be in a different spot if necessary. They probably thought adventure mode would be more fun with a competitive aspect as well. (After all, beating up your friends makes them lose Force Gems...)

I'd certainly look into Four Swords for the single-player portion if I ever saw it for $10 or so.

Never liked the GC/GBA linking as being mandatory however - if you don't have the portable, you can't have fun it seems. :\

Fully agreed ... and I don't think I'd exactly be willing to dish out about $90 just to get some "special" things for certain games, in using the connectivity. (GC Game + GBA Game + Link Cable)

But I don't even have a GBA, so I can't.

You can play single-player GC Four Swords without the GBA. Whenever you go into one of the "sub" areas that is normally shown on the GBA, it appears on a small overlay window on the TV screen. You can press a button (Z, I think) to toggle that window. I played through the entire adventure mode using the normal GC controller.

I would love to try it multiplayer. I have a GC to GBA cable (Work's well in Animal Crossing, and Wind Waker). But no one around has a GBA and cable I can play with. (Not sure if I should be doing this.) And Rydain maybe you can help... It's at Hyrule Castle I think... Where you "rescue" that one guy. And you can't get in the castle because of the electricshockvoltagecute'ing gate...

You need to take him around to the other side, where the other imp is. Boomerang is not necessary.

At E3 they had a fully english Tetra's Trackers. Tetra refered to players by a letter they picked, like "Mr. P". I don't know why at all they didn't add it. I am hoping that they atleast add it to the next GCN Zelda as a bonus disk.
