Clients = stubborn, inept, and evil.

That is all.

Argh! I can agree with that, though on different terms.

yes, but then again you're rediculous

i'm thinking about just doing some for free, to land something, as even when i offer extra services it seems to amount to not much.

Heh.

One of my clients is insanely evil. I've worked 40 hours on the project, and he keeps making me do things that weren't in the description.

I'm sure there are [labor?] laws against that.

Yeah, but what am I going to do? I'm getting TWENTY BUCKS for the project, and I just want a good rating.

I have a 10 right now, I don't want it to drop. I'll just tough it out, and double that 40 hours.

(Note: IANAL and I'm referring to US law)
I think that bidders are considered independent contractors, not employees, so labor laws (like minimum wage, overtime pay, etc..) don't apply.

Employers may ask employees to work more than 40 hrs/wk as needed, but they must pay an extra 50% for any work over 40 hrs during each week.

That has little to do with having the paying party say, "Though you completed the required work, you will not be paid if you don't also do this, this, and this; regardless that you were completely unaware of these terms simply because I neglected to mention them when you signed for the job."

(rereads posts...woops!)

That is a contract/site rules issue, not a labor issue, and I need more sleep.

windwaker:

1. Refuse to do the extra work
2. Put the project into arbitration

The buyer WILL lose the arbitration if he refuses to pay more for extra features, and will not get to rate you.

Don't let the ass hole use you!

I'm not entirely sure you can do that. Last I read they could suspend your account if you offer to do work for no pay. THat is, if I understood that portion of the contract correctly.

*revives thread once more*

I'm at $895 now

How's everyone doing?

Edit: Oh and I've got about $300 worth over 4 different projects to be completed within the next 2 weeks (hopefully)
