Ok today i decided to reformat my hardrive because it was starting to really slow down and i got a new video card for christmas a MSI geforce fx 5700LE card. but now I can't get the moniter to work in that slot and im running on a crappy savage DDR card thats in my motherboard. I dont know how to set it up when I pop in the driver it doesnt show the installing part and its starting to give me a headache. Save me those two words come backs like "it sucks to be you" I really dont need them right now All i want is somone oh here right now with answers and dont leave the board because im gonna reply as fast as I can. Well opps wrong forum... um can you guys ahh bring it down one... or you can bring it into the general topic so i can get even faster results (edited by Shady Milkman on 12-29-04 11:02 PM) |

Even with no display driver installed, the card should still output a very crappy signal to the connected monitor. You should be able to see the desktop, and install a driver for it. What OS are you running? In any event, try disabling the onboard video, and reconnect the monitor to the geforce. |

There is only one possible culprit; that is, did you somehow enter the bios and renable the onboard video? If so, turn it off. Even if you didn't go into the bios check anyways. Otherwise, as the previous poster stated, your video card should display at least a very low resolution image on your monitor even without any drivers installed. There is quite possibly no other means for this problem to occur, unless for some odd reason you fried your card while you were formatting your hard-drive (extremely unlikely). Yea.... I have been getting the same reply at a diffrent board. I went into bios but i dont see what I have to do. Now I am pretty stupid when it comes to bios so I need a step by step way how to do it. The pc is a asrock athlon xp 1.66 ghtz with 512 of ddr ram. Windows it self is running fine its just that I can't play games right now and i would like too. I mean that is why i bought the parts to make this pc. |

In the BIOS (just move your arrow keys around), try finding an ONBOARD PERIPHERALS section, and when you enter it there should be an option ONBOARD VIDEO; pressing enter will toggle it. If not just look around the BIOS and see if there is anything resembling it. |
