I need some advice about burning DVD data disc.
I want to take my copy of Windows XP home with service pack 2 also I'm going put my Norton system works 2005 software in it along system and networking tools that I got from ebay last year.....My first question when I put the OS and system works on a DVD will my computer notice the OS files first when rebooted or just the antivirus files and boot into Norton's safe mode menu ? if there is a easy way to do this differently if my first compilation wouldn't work right ?

also I got a new Memorex Double layer DVD burner plus when I burn movies in nero 6 it takes 25 hours to burn I don't have that kind of time for it to burn that long plus if I use my computer while its encoding and burning it will slow down
but when I try to burn a movie with Easy CD creator 6 it takes 15 hours to encode and burn. is there anyway I can speed this up a little bit ? also the DVD burner isn't slow its the software 16x for DVD-R 4x DVD-RW plus 48x for CD-R and CD-RW's

You will need to slipstream the Win XP SP2 with the Norton System Works; I haven't a clue how to do so, as most people only slipstream XP discs with MS updates.

It should be a difficult feat to recreate the Windows XP disc image with the Norton System Works in a subdirectory; it would be easier just to create two CDs alone.

As for the encoding, it all depends on your system specifications; the encoding is probably the thing that's lagging the process. A slow CPU paired with a fast burner does not make for a fast burning process.

Ok I have a question about burning the windows XP image could I zip up NSW 2005 in a rar file and add it to the compilation ? also if works can I add non bootable networking and system utilities to it or do just like you said ?

the reason why I'm doing this because I want to make a ultimate 4.7 disc full of useful utilities and other stuff added along with windows OS so that I won't have to go rumiging around for my programs when I need to put it back my computer after a fresh clean installation of Windows XP.

I am unsure if it will work but if you try make sure that the CD you are creating is a BOOT DVD (which you can specify in Nero 6, I don't know if there is a BOOT DVD option), with emulation set to none and the number of loaded sectors to 4. This would be the method one goes through to make his or her own slipstreamed Windows XP disc, so I don't see why it will not work. However, the biggest concern is the fact that the disc is a DVD, rather than a CD; there might be difficulties trying to burn a BOOT DVD (I am unsure whether or not Nero, or any other burning utilities for that matter, has this option).

As for adding the files to the Windows XP image, you can do as you please. It should not make a difference whether you put it in as a compressed file or as a folder, or the contents of the additional files.

Best of luck.
