I don't know what happened, but my one good GC controller is messed up. The control stick is weird, where ever you move it, it stays there, and its kinda hard to move. Just got windwaker and pikmin too. Anyone know of a way to fix this?

I already know someone is going to say "Buy a new one"

I'd say something's gotten down inside the control stick part That sort of thing happened with our N64 controllers, and my Dad and friend saw fit to take them apart and try to fix them, but they did more harm than good with that. They're now worse than they were before

How long have you had this controller now? The Gamecube controller I use now is the one I've had since I bought the thing, and it's still working, but the control stick's starting to loosen up, as in it doesn't quite return to the center of the circle part when you let go of it.

If you have the things necessary to, I'd say to try taking the back or front, whichever piece comes off of your controller, and seeing if there's anything under the ball of the control stick.

If that doesn't work, and I know you probably don't want to hear it, buying a new one probably would be your best bet

Alrighty, here we go. I've had that problem before, and in different variations. This one black controller I got was constantly being registered as "tilted" when the 'Cube starts up. The way I fixed that was just hold down X+Y+Start for three seconds.

The other variation I had was the 'Cube thinking I'm still holding a certain direction when I'm not really. Me and Sion found out how to fix it.. you just constantly rotate the stick quickly, and blow into it, hard. I'm guessing there was dust that got in there. As soon as we did that, all of our controllers were magically working like brand new, even the controller I had gotten with the Gamecube. Our true gaming experience was resurrected.

.... Unless when you mean that the control stick is literally stuck in the position inside the game pad. If that's the case, I'd say there's some sticky gunk stuck inside, or something's broken inside of it.

Yeah, its literally stuck on the controller. I know about the X+Y+Start thing. My black one is messed up like you said it was going one way even in the middle. The blue one is stuck ON the controller. I will try the spinning blowing thing with the black one and try to find a screwdriver for the blue one and let yall know.

I have the exact same problem as Kirbynite with all of my (working) controllers. I'll have to try that blowing thing... Seems to be a common problem though.

OK, fixed the blue one. Took it apart, took the control stick off, and the medal rod beneath had been bent. Still not sure how it got bent, but it is fixed now. The black one has some weird screws so I can't get it off to check, and the blowing thing didn't work.

I know it sounds wierd, but try twisting it while keeping the stick straight up. That somehow fixed one of mine.

Whats odd is, if I hold it a little off to the bottom right instead of in the middle when it starts, the controller works fine, its like the middle on the controller is off. Eh, windwaker is a one player game, no need for two anyway.

Yeah, these kinds of things have been happening to myself since the N64 days. And I'm usually one of those gamers who has "their controller, nobody else touches this one". But with controllers like this these days you're almost forced to have more than 1 just for yourself.

So yeah, my recommendation would have been to open it up and mess with it. Seems like you did that already. Still if it seems to mess up, like others said just blow into it or try to clean it out in some way.

Yeah, hopefully that helps I guess.

Well, blowing didnt work. And it has those weird triangle shaped screws. I did what Kyouji said, turn the stick. It works now, but it makes a clicking noise when I move it. Hey, better than nothing.

I can hear something when shaking one of mine. Nobody has a screwdriver for it. SSBM is good to test with, even the slightest misfire from the control stick will affect jumping.

Only if you jump with the control stick... And I know no one who does, except when it's immediately followed by an air up attack.

Stuck, eh?
I had that once. I pull the control stick up a bit then push it down, I had to do that in SSBM once.. It's quick and works pretty well. (Push down to start then pull up. That'll make sure this trick works)

If it doesn't move still - There's something in the controler.
