I'd have to go with MP3 but only because of its penetration. I've always wanted to try OGG but it's not like I end up with a ton of matches when I go on a music search.

I'm willing to give OGG a chance, but virtually anything out there that has to do with music/home theatre supports MP3's now, so...

OGG, and I'll tell you why:

1) Sounds exactly the same as MP3
2) Overall better quality than MP3
3) OPEN SOURCE! No royalties, completely public domain.

I'm in the (long) process of converting the majority of my MP3's (good gig and a half of em), and I've already saved 460 megs. I'm about half done converting as is. There's two downsides: 1, burning software does not yet recognize it as audio; 2, CD, DVD, and other suchs players do not yet know the format, so it's basically a PC only format for the time being.

My two cents...

Simple math.

Also, WMA has DRM. That alone makes it suck. Then there's other crap.

Well, many prtables these days CAN play WMA but not that I have one myself.

I rarely download music... just rip it from my own CDs, so I can easily use OGG files any time

Converting your MP3s into OGG will not be advantagous, but more likely disadvantagous. You'll lose quality in the conversion.

OGGs are cool, but I chose MP3s, as it is the most popular right now. Only my Goldie Lookin' Chain and UT2k4 soundtracks use OGG

To you people who dont have a player for OGG (or almost ANY other format), get Foobar2000. It plays everything you could think of. As for the format question, I hate WMA, lags on my comp for some reason (may just be because of WMP). MP3 is great IMO. And OGG, well I have only ever had one song in OGG format and it sounded exactly like mp3.

What about APE? (Monkey Audio) is it good?
