There has been a lot of talk... I don't know anymore. What do you think?

Edit: Should've said audio instead of music... sorry. Lol.

I'd say Wav due to quality, but it's not there due to file size (no?)

MP3 keeps quality a tad better than WMA. (God, It can't even keep a WL4 tune quite right - MP3 can.)

The other option = WTF?

OGG vorbis beats all, thought most of my files is MP3's since they come in that way. And you don't really win that much by converting from MP3 to OGG.

But I always take OGG when possible, when I rip a CD. Ogg is my choiche. Same when I convert a Wav file I have.

May not.. I had never heard of it before. Is it a format that'll play in winamp only? (if yes, Screw them!)

Here's the skinny on Ogg Vorbis.

If you haven't heard of it before, you may be a little surprised.

MP3, might switch that to OGG once I see the supposed glory of these things.

EDIT: WMA and wav files can die....slowly and painfully.

Depends.... I'd say MP3 because everything I use support it.
But OGG aren't bad, either.

Total number of stereos I have that play MP3s: 1
Total number of stereos I have that play OGGs: 0
Total number of stereos I have that play WMAs: 0
Total number of portables I have that play MP3s: 1
Total number of portables I have that play OGGs: 0
Total number of portables I have that play WMAs: 0

Simple math.

Also, WMA has DRM. That alone makes it suck. Then there's other crap.

I've got all of 1 .ogg file on my computer. The rest are MP3s, so that's going to be my choice

I've heard some good things about OGG, but I've never used it a whole lot yet

WMA is the worst... MP3 is better... and OGG is best.

Here are the advantages to Ogg Vorbis over MP3:
1. Smaller files. The point that MP3 was made with anyway (small size means easy transfer over the Internet)
2. Better quality. I'm not sure about the exact ratio, but an Ogg Vorbis file at 64 Kbps might sound as good as an MP3 at 92 Kbps
3. Free and open. No patent issues with creating OGG. (You have to have a contract from Unisys to create MP3s, but not to play them)

Disadvantages of Ogg:
* I and most others have nothing that'll play it. (I don't want more than 3 different sound file players. (i currently have 3 and one's lose it, lose sound fully. (it controls my sound as well)))
* Less-universal. (i prefer MP3 due to this)

So basically, your reasoning is that you're too lazy to do a google search for a good music player?

I've got a good one, but it's a tad limited. (no addons avaible) AvRack/RtlRack. The sound screwing functions like sharpness/flatness and the eaqualiser changes the sounds of my entire comp. Well hearing certain noises due to it. It records too!. but it supports ongly the main sound files (MP3,Wav,Midi,Wma) but i guess it may be able to play more.. Not sure. It opens any file.. SPC i know isn't supported.

OGG is a better format, but MP3 is supported by so much more stuff.

Car stereos, CD players, portable music players all support MP3 more than OGG. So even though OGG is an excellent format, it's unfortunately useless to me, as I have an iPod, and all my devices and players support MP3 more readily than OGG.

I'm guessing I'm not the only one in the same boat either... although if you have an iRiver, I think those support OGG...

WMA sounds better than MP3 on low bitrates. Althought WMA does take up little more for that.. and besides I doubt that everyone would go and save on the lowest bitrates eh?

Many game makers seem to chose ogg nowdays, I seen a quite few games using it.
