You need to tinker with your router if E-mule have bad perfomance.

I never had chanche to test out DC++ out probably, even now when I have stuff that goes above 5 GB together.

if you set up your computere to be exactly the same as your friends, then it will work...eMule doesn't work like you think it does, which is why some people have trouble. but anyways, out of all the schemes outthere, bittorent is the best i've seen

eMule != Kazaa, Trapster.

It's always a good idea to scan any files you download, but you should be fine as long as you take that precaution.

Now, if Exeem ever gets released... oh geez. The MPAA's going to end up wetting themselves.

I'm just hoping that some country somewhere (Canada seems closest right now) implements a "pay ~$20[USD] annually, we'll distribute the money to the artists accordingly" scheme already. It's almost 2005 and we don't have flying cars yet, why not this? It's technically possible, economically feasile, and - oh wait. Damn labels.

You don't get viruses by downloading MPG's and ZIP files Trapster. Or by just using a certain progam. Being careless get's you viruses.

No, using a program THAT SHIPS WITH SPYWARE gets you spyware. Otherwise I agree.

Yes, but that INCLUDES using a certain program, it doesn't override it.

You *can* get spyware even if you're not careless, and even if you didn't download something that has spyware bundled with it. I'm not sure if they're all patched yet, but there were a few vulnerabilities that allowed drive-by downloads where things downloaded and installed with no user intervention....

But most the time, users are careless (or just don't know better). Half my clients at work click on any "OK" button that comes up, without questioning it or even reading it....

Haha, funny story about that. This woman wanted to look up something online for me for some reason. She double-clicked the taskbar icon for IE, googled a bit, found a site and bookmarked it. She then tried to download Realplayer, but got sidetracked by one of those ads that looks like an error message and ended up closing the window. She then googled again, desparately trying to find the site she had bookmarked not 2 minutes ago. Finally, she gave up and asked if I had Google installed at home. Funny story, but I feel sorry for that poor computer...

What happened to me ...

I am now desperatly purging it off my computer, but I am smart enough to delete my cookies ...

I don't use file sharing any more I go to sites that I know work well. I hate file sharing, because it never works right.
