Why in God's name would you share a CURROPTED SONG.
Now, I know the anti-piracy thingy puts them up there, but aren't those people with the curropt songs real people? Or just some computers set to share curropted songs? This is really pissing me off, I'm glad I downloaded MP3 shield though, tells me in time when a song is curropt or not.

The RIAA puts a lot of them up, but yeah, I can't believe how many people download them and share them (and don't delete the stupid things like they should!)

I use LimeWire, and it tells me when something is corrupt. Which is pretty well all the time if I try to download anything popular (thus I still haven't heard any Franz Ferdinand).

I'd make the guess that the songs are 'shared' by people that download them, but don't know enough about computers to delete the corrupt file. I don't see why someone would set up a computer just to share corrupted files

That's exactly why I like using programs that check a file for validity before it's saved to your computer, like Bittorrent, for example

That's exactly one of the reasons why the MPAA don't like BitTorrent. They can't put corrupt dodgy stuff on there or misnamed files

I use eMule, which is quite nice for downloading full albums (if you own the original copy, of course!). The only downside is that you would need to share a lot before you could download much.

That's why Bittorrent is awesome, well bittorrent is the way to go for large files.

And there is legal use to it too.

The only filesharing thing I use beside Bittorrent is e-mule.

a popular bittorrent listing site was taken down according to an article I read. In that same article, it mentioned that it would go after eMule too...

I've had a few problems with corrupted songs, but surprisingly they're all classic/old songs. (70s/80s) No real problems with newer material.

Several popular BitTorrent listing sites have been taken down recently... Two major ones quite recently. Suprnova for example.

No real word on why that I've heard, although apparently a lawsuit was threatened.

All I know is that people who were downloading Linux ISO's through Suprnova are gonna be pissed. (And yes, they had a very nice selection if you were wondering.)

Simple solution; get DC++ and find a hub where no RIAA fools are on .

I actually hate DC++ but that's because every hub I was interested in had insanely large sharing requirements. (I don't even HAVE 10GB of anime on my PC, for starters.)

Boy, I can't wait for Exeem.

If you seed a BT tracker with an already corrupt file all it would check for is further corruption of the file (unless some BT clients have built-in corruption checks for MP3 files and the likes).

BitTorrent is fucking slow in the beginning. And is e-Mule actually good?

I use DC++ and BT. Exeem seems to be great.

It's the THC I tell you, damn Shiva.) Anyway, where was I? Oh right (This post is in real time :o - Legion joke rip off, sorry) Well anyhow, it never works for me.

*Sigh* This is why these programs shouldn't have the ability to tell things like share ratios and number of files. People WILL set ridiculous limitations and restrictions based on them.

See, the problem with file sharing is that all methods suck in some way.

Kazaa-style: What? You actually found a non-spyware-infested client? CONGRATULATIONS! (Big bonus points if the interface doesn't suck, and again if it's stable!) Now you get to download corrupt files from the RIAA!

BitTorrent-style: No built-in search, you have to search web pages. There are FAR too many BS pages for that to do you any good. If you do find a source you have to sign up, and good luck not getting booted if you're just starting out and don't have any of their files.

IRC-style: Same as BT, but worse because you have to do the searching manually.

And with ANY file sharing program you have to get it to actually connect and download the file, which is always a huge problem.

This Exeem sounds nice, I bet it never gets released. Probably the reason they got shut down.

Always mr Positive. Appearently, they shut themselves down because they feared being shut down "for real". They probably didn't want to wager not being shut down before they release Exeem.
