The guys over at Rare Witch Project have cracked Goldeneye's compression and whatnot. And now they've released an editor!
At the moment, it can replace just about any texture in the game with one of your own, as long as it's properly sized.
Check it out.

SubDrag must be at it again. Man, I have fond memories of my first internet days, in which I hung out at several InsideTheWeb Goldeneye 007 messageboards. SubDrag was a member there. Those times ruled, and I'm glad he's had such success with hacking this game.

Well, it's actually been around for a ginormously long time, but yes, it has been confined to GSCentral's forums and Rare Witch.

WoW! Thanks for the heads up! These guys really crack me up; After having release a face mapper, here they go again with a "textures changer"... It's cool to know, someone out there is still trying to figure out Nintendo 64's methods of compression etc..

Awesome. I could do this for other games too, actually... Except I can't figure out how to re-compress the damn files. (Maybe I should take a look again. )

Wow, they certainly are making great strides to relases this type of editor. New textures can no doubt breath new life into the game.

This is great. If my computer didn't crash everytime I loaded up an n64 game, I would hack this. Now all they need to do is get an editor for Perfect Dark!!!

BTW, is it possible to edit an N64 game on the PC and then transfer it into a cart playable on the n64?

This seems really interesting, I have yet to attempt a hack for an N64 game, maybe this'll be a good thing to start off with.

With this I'm sure it also wouldn't be too hard (possibly) to start PD hacking also.

Yes, with one of those backup devices. But you never know... These guys do a lot of Gameshark work, one of them might come up with a way to use that to load new textures.
