This was something I didn't know about and it's quite interesting that deals with the upcoming holidays.

This doesn't shock me either. Besides the strees, there's also a lot of depression related to the holidays. I blame that on the hype that the holidays have been exposed to over the years and its only getting worse.

Sometimes in December I get depressed for no reason at all. I just sleep until it goes away.

It'd suck to have someone you know die on Christmas though. My grandpa killed himself on Christmas (but I wasn't born yet).

I don't really believe it has to do with hype... Increase in depression is I believe caused by an already depressed person seeing how miserable their situation is in comparison with how happy everyone else is.

Christmas is the best holiday ever for me, but then I always see things from the bright side. Even when i'm depressed. I start like Christmas more and more for the "Family getting together part" than the "PRESENTS!!!! ^___^".

No i'm not stressing myself through Christmas, even if I was the one who bought most of the presents.

And oh, i'm not surprised about that fact. People get careless on Christmas, they drink more ETC.

People drink more on the other holidays though, like Halloween and St. Patrick's Day and so forth.

And the hype is, at least from my view, that the fact that people have to give out gifts and pay a shit load of money for them and so forth. That, and all the ads on TV, they get to be annoying after awhile.

And each case is different, so you can't say that someone that was already depressed gets more depressed during Christmas goes for all...or something like that.

Meh... I work for a psychiatrist, and the wall between where I work and his office isn't soundproof, like it should be. I must say, I've heard a sharp increase in sad people lately. Coincidence?

Okay, then in my case, I wasn't sa until a bunch of shit started to happen, and like it always does, around Christmas. I was in good spirits before then.

Maybe some egg nog will do me some good.

And?

This is the most polar time of the year. People get stressed out, people feel like shit, etc.

Yeah, it makes sense.

Most parents are pretty stressed at this time, like mine rushing out only days before Christmas to buy presents, etc.

Imagine what the single mother on welfare feels right now. Just think. Her kid in elementary school mewing for expensive gifts she sure as hell can't afford...Think about how she must feel right now.

But if X-Mas wasn't so hyped up about gifts, and more about just being together and alive, would the child still cry?

This is why I don't ask my dad for anything in the first place and it gets me mad when he send me a giftt card. He works two jobs (three at one point) while mom is on an island, not working and still asking for my dad to send her stuff (this year, a GBA game).

Sadly, there's always someone worse off than the person before you, and I can't help not to think about them. The kids without parents, the parents who are there yet away in Iraq, and so forth.

Welcome to corporate society Anya, this greed is a direct construct thereof. Expell money, expell production and expell capitalism and you may find a way around the childs tears,

Well, I'm certainly feeling a little bit down this holiday season. I think it's cause I have a lot to worry about in the aftermath of Christmas though, like job and rent stuff.

Right at the moment, I still don't have time for Christmas! But I don't know what to get anybody, and I'm aware that my budget doesn't stretch very far...

Winter itself is depressing too, I think I heard it's actually something chemical-related. (Plus think about which scene is happier, a nice warm summer day or a blizzard? )

Winter can get some people depressed, I think they call it Seasonal Depression. It has to do with the light levels a bit. Light helps produce seratonin (I think) but in Winter there's less of it.....

But that doesn't explain why I'm feeling a little down. It's the middle of summer here.

I'm also a bit down because I will be mostly alone this Christmas, and it's never fun to spend a big holiday by yourself.

I totally agree with that. I want to celebrate Christmas with my cousins. Plus we can play games together and such things.

Maybe play with fireworks too. You should try to look up some friends to celebrate with if that possible.
