Eh... the hacks look great and all, but making YI hacks fo your own is a pain. You got a lot of mystery meat combinations and you have to guess which objects are compatable for what level. And in some cases, you cannot even run your game because the colour schemes don't fit.

If you enjoy it, knock yourself out. But I'm not really into hacking YI. Bores me to tears.

If you mean the ones I think you mean, they're still a huge pain to use. Buggy, full-screen, DOS-based editors with a severe lack of features are generally not popular. Nor are buggy editors that have an incredibly small, non-resizeable window and a severe lack of features.

Have you ever actually used SMB3 Workshop? None of those descriptions of yours match it at all. It's a standard Windows application, isn't full-screen, has a ton of features, and you can resize the window.

It should be standard practice to actually find more out about a subject before you go off on one about it.

Sure, an editor like EggVine isn't the most user-friendly and even after using it since August, I still have to guess the positioning and sizing of a lot of tricky objects, which usually ends up in me having to restructure the level due to limitations. The byte limit is an issue also, since I usually make large stages, and I have to use up other levels in order to have enough room for the entire stage. Heck, I don't think I'm going to have enough levels to make World 6, since I used up a lot of parts in the last world in order to expand my earlier worlds. But aside from the lack of graphics, sometimes nearly-impossible object sizings and positionings, and the byte limit, I put all the issues aside because I'm determined to make a great (although I'll settle for decent due to the limits of the editor) hack of YI. Not to sound too full of myself, but probably not many of you can make YI levels as good as mine at this point. This is another reason why I want to hack YI, because I don't have too much competition. And I suppose the reason there's a lack of competition is not only because people can't use the editor, but because not so many people are interested in YI. Well, whatever the case, I carry on. Nothing will stop me.

I'll tell you one thing GY, I rather play a Yoshi's Island hack than play Yoshi's Story for N64. I know that the progress you've made on your'e hack'll kick Yoshi's Story in the ass. I enjoyed your'e recent demo & I can't wait to play the finished product! So, keep up the good work kiddo.

Remember, one world hacks in the SMW community are usually mostly ignored too.

It works perfectly. I would recommend you all do that if that is the reason you don't play demos.

I am somewhat interested in Yoshi's Island hacks. Some can be good, but then some could be... uhhh... downright pitiful...

And Cheveyo, I could send you a rom if you really need it. I had a tough time finding it myself and I got it from someone else because the download wouldn't download from the site it is on...

YI is okay. I have exams in jan-feb so i haven't been doing much of anything (altho I never study for exams or tests, other things take up my life). I notice that during school months, hacking drops ALOT! But come the summer, it will hopefully be back up again.

Maybe I'm a bit late here, but I'm definately looking forward to SMW2+... I haven't commented because, well... they're just screens. And I haven't played any of the demos because I'm waiting for the final product. So I'm one of the undoubtedly many who's interested, but I'm just lurking..

In fact, I just found this thread because I was looking to see if you've been getting anything done lately on the hack.
