I'm looking for remote admin software I can use between a 98/ME and an XP (the one that's going to be remotely administrated)

If someone can point me to a good free one, I'd appreciate it (since Google gives absolutely nothing worth bothering with, like "this.stuff.rocks/remote-admin-program.html")...

I've tried niether so I dunno how they work but I know a friend used radmin (site seems to be down, for me anyway). And I've heard of people using TightVnC. Could always give them a try.

If you put the windows XP cd in the 98/ME machine, it lets you install the Remote Desktop Client that will let you administer the XP machine remotely.

At work, I use a combination of VNC, Timbuktu, and Remote Desktop, depending on the situation (I use Remote Desktop to administer school servers, and either Timbuktu or VNC for other school questions).

When I worked in a school, I used to use SystemSkan, but that's a large scale enterprise piece of software -- VERY cool, gives you varying tools that have varying control over all the computers in your network (instead of Remote Control, for example, you can use the Remote Task Manager to close an application... amongst other things). Of course, that's expensive, and does a lot of extra stuff (like log activity on each machine, etc) as well.

Damn though, I would love to have department wide SystemSkan. It'd be so much easier from a Help Desk perspective to be able to transmit my screen to a user to show them something, or to gain instant VNC without having to fuck with IP's, or to close the misbehaving application without having to get a computer illiterate user to Ctrl + Alt + Delete..... *sigh*

lol, to hack system skan, write a process killer, that kills msnbln32s.exe and it goes instantly and then the kids at schools have to only use a cgi proxy and they can go onto anything ownload mp3, whatever.

PERSONAL EXPERINCE lol

keep hacking kids
