If you only had to pay American gas prices, would you drive a car or use public transit?
I would prefer if only non-Americans who currently use public transportation answer this poll.

OK, so I'm an American answering this poll. So what are you gonna do about it?

I would use public transportation, because I don't have a driver's license...Driving is very overrated in the US, everyone just assumes that EVERYBODY can drive a car, at least where I live...

US gas price: 0.505 USD/liter = 3.13667 NOK/liter

Norwegian gas price: ~10 NOK/liter = 1.60912 USD/liter (Not sure of the excact price, since I don't have a car. )

Oh, and to answer the question, for shorter distances (well within the limits of this town, ie. less than 2km, I'd just walk, as long as the weather isn't to bad. )

For longer distances, I'd either use public transportation, or get a ride from someone I knew.

So I guess my answer would have to be public transportation, since I don't have my own car..

To be honest, I don't think I'll be getting a car in a long while. At the moment, I don't see the big need for it. It'd be just an unnecessary expense.

I hate the transportaion here. I had to take it for about 15 years. The busses are nasty, filled with drunks, druggies, and so forth. The bus station downtown is filled with bums and so on. And that's about all the public transportaion that we have here. The taxis are a rip, the metro rail is only in Miami and the AmTrack only takes you to certain places...none of which I want to go (and will end up taking a bus or taxi anyway).

I've only been driving since I was around 20, and though I hate driving in traffic and I tend to feel traped when I do, I will do it, no matter the gas prices, because it is freedom to me. Well, unless it gets to be $5.00, but that's just damn right out there.

With the internet, you don't need transportation at all.

I will get a driver license soon thought, but even then I probably would just drive when I can't take the bus.

I'm not paying for my Internet! On the other hand, I have to share the capacity with someone else. But it works just fine for my needs.

However, I could probably pay it, if I had to, I don't think it's that much (plus, I'd be paying only half the price, and I'm not excactly short on cash at the moment either.)

And I've grown so used to having the Internet, and doing stuff there, I don't know if I'd want to lose it. When it comes to having a car, that is something I've never had, so I can't miss it either. And I'm thinking that getting a car that is somewhat decent would be more expensive than the Internet, wouldn't it?

I'd take the American prices anyday. Like Colleen said, it's more expensive here. But I don't drive, so that doesn't botter me.
