This was my first event edit attempt (successful event edit anyway), and I thought I'd post it here as well. Eventually I'll make a better one, but with a little imagination and about an hour of free time, this is what I got.

http://www.geocities.com/chickenlump/zealbattle.zip

Apply to an unheadered ROM and head into Gato's Exhibit (well prepared and very high levels too....though that may not even help any..heh...).
When I first played the game, I spent a whole year looking for how to save Schala.
Odd, that one of my first hacks for the game has you attempting to destroy her...not that it's going to be easy to do of course.

Doesn't look like a very fair battle.

Does Schala actually have attacks and stuff? Or did you edit those?

I tried to use it, but everytime I tried to go to Leene Square, I always ended up with a pink screen..

Looks cool, though.

UNHEADERED ROM!

[ie: remove the first 200 bytes, or open the ROM in Temporal Flux, THEN patch it!]

I would suggest distributing your patches in NINJA format. It will change the user's ROM to the appropriate ROM type before it applies the changes.

At some point, I would like to add native NINJA patch saving to Temporal Flux.

WTF is the NINJA format anyway? Granted, it's better than PIRATE...

EP: Some more information on the NINJA format would be nice.

My next boss hack will be in Ninja format. I've heard about Ninja, and it sounds great, and all my future patches will be available in both formats, or just Ninja eventually (slowly fade out IPS eventually...). I'll tone down the difficulty as well, I've had one user tell me it would be easier to destroy the Death Star with his bare hands than defeat these three. That made my day actually..heh..

The Ninja patch saving in Temporal Flux sounds fantastic, but would it only make a patch with the changes Temporal Flux itself makes, or scan the entire ROM for changes and make the patch?

It would save the changes it makes into a patch (so that the original ROM remains unmodified). If outside changes were made, you would need to use a full patcher.

This is pretty far down the line though. It is not on the short list by any means.

@CL: Make that unheadered and uninterleaved

Are you going to make a full game of this or is this just a demo.

Congrats, you are the first (to my knowledge) to have beaten them.
Even *I* couldn't beat them!
This was just meant to be a small Boss Battle hack, and am glad a few people gave it a go.
I may update this one, and add in Alfador to make it a foursome (here kitty kitty) and tweak everyone to be more fair, and a bit more challenging. Maybe in a few weeks.

lol, well it was simple, i noticed that area attacks tend to make them go for geyster + hallucation combo, so i stayed away from that, poor luminare, oh well i developed strategy, so i used 2nd best move, confuse on schala first, it instanly kills her, then i heal with megaelixers, then focus on zeal to eliminate her deadly hallucation attack, then magus was basically exact same battle you just fought in magus's castle, just wait for him to switch to lighting mode then mop the floor with luminare, with couple hits from masamune, congrats i am done with the battle, i have a feeling if you make schala tad stronger, it would be worthy challenge
