UnsurpassedDarkness: Nope, they're not discs. There in fact cartridges, even smaller than GBA games. Well I guess you could nearly call them "cards".

The DS is definitely number 1 on my Christmas list this year. Being a non-GBA owner, I love the fact that it has backward compatibility, considering there's tons of GBA games out there already that are really good.

From what I've seen the DS is totally awesome. It's a lot smaller than I had imagined it to be, which is a good thing. The WiFi multiplayer setup is also very nice.

The only thing that could be a little weird to get used to for awhile is playing games like Mario 64x4 without a joystick, yeah there is the "Touch Pad" and stylus, but that's still ... different.

The PSP ... honestly, looks -decent-. I like the fact it's also an mp3 player, and also has a Tales of Eternia game coming to it, other than that, I'd easily choose the DS over it anyday.

Xeogred, you are aware that you can't use multiplayer functions of GBA games due to the difference in format, correct?

Yes, I've known that. But doesn't dissapoint me really.

If I had to choose between a DS or GBA, I'd go with the DS, regardless of losing the ability to play multiplayer with the GBA games. Most of the games I'll probably get that are GBA games will probably be more focused on single player anyways.

The Japanese DS is out, also with games.

So a new good Game is out, made in Wario.

Question, did it come out before/after/at the same time of the US release? (I heard somewhere it came out before)

I'm pretty sure it came out at some point in either august or september in Japan. I remember hearing it at least.

Nope, it just came out this week in Japan. First time in history that Nintendo released a console in North America ahead of Japan. And the 1000000000000000000000000000000000th time that it is released on Alpha Centari Betzorgonia's ninth moon ahead of Europe.

Huh, I thought that handhelds weren't considered consoles.

I need to look up the world "console" at some point.

Idolizing the Japanese is unhealthy. You may spontaneously turn in to a raving lunatic claiming to be an otaku, at which point I'd have to shoot you.

If "piece of video game playing hardware" floats your boat, then so be it. How about system?

I did teh funniest thing with my DS today. I went to a EB Games (actually, my brother did, I just tagged along). We went inside. I put Pictochat on both of the DS's set up inside. We were leaving since he got his new game (DOA: Ultimate) and I got on my DS and went to Pictochat. Someone inside that works there was confused at where I was at... I was in my brother's car chatting with the people inside the store.

Now that is some powerful wi-fi.

Now here is the thing: PSP may seem cool due to some of the stuff it can do, but why do you get a game console? To play games, not watch movies or play MP3s or burn discs or make your dinner. If I want something to play MP3s, I get an MP3 player. Watching DVDs, get a DVD player.
Annoys me that these new "game consoles" focus primarily on something not game related...

Anyway, I got the DS the very first day it was released (November 21st) and I still play it. It is just awesome.

Are they? Well I feel stupid. Then again, I was spamming a lot yesterday and I can't well be expected to make sense then. At any rate, Cpubasic, I believe wi-fi can connect to things on the other side of the planet. I don't see why it's "powerful" for being able to keep a connection to something a handful of miles away, but... Whatever.

Well according to Nintendo the range is between 30 to 100 feet. Comparing to the GBA wireless thing which just was 10 feets or something...

I think the range depends on the game too sort of. I dunno how far away you can be with Pictochat.

GBA can play movies too, althought not high quality ones. And I think there is a MP3 player for GBA too...

From what I'm reading right now in my newest GI, it's the "GBA Movie Player V2.0", some name huh?

But yeah, sounds like you can watch movies, play mp3's, and even download ebooks to the handheld. Says a flash card is required though, but not recommended. This thing goes for $24.99

Says you can get them atlik-sang.com.

I'm sure they'll make something similar to this for the DS, but of course would probably be superior.

I went to Wal-Mart and played the DS there. It looked like the cord that was connected to the stylus (to keep someone from stealing it, you know) was made out of some type of metal or something

I got my Ds yesterday. And It was worth every penny. The metroid game is pretty awesome, though, its only a demo...I'lll definately buy the game, but the first game i gonna buy is super mario.

The crappy thing, is that I only got it cus my friend said he'd get it, and now it turns out he aint, so i got no one to play multiplayer wit since they all savin up for psp. Thats my only dissapointement, that i wont get to use multiplayer. Other than that everything about it is great! you can change the bg color of the ds, your b-day, the time, a calender. its great. The games are like half the size though!!! and they call them cards.

gba cartridge and DS card side by side

I took other pics too. I'll show ya one where i am playin metroid.

metroid in action!

sorry they are so blurry..my digital camera sux..
