I want to try out Litestep. The problem is that I because my CD/RW doesn't work, I can't make any recent backups until I upgrade over the summer.

Apparently the latest version has been tested without problems in XP, but I wanted to know from Litestep users about what setting up and possible uninstalling entails please

Thanks

If you have XP, no need to backup.

Start: Programs: Accessories: System Tools: System Restore

Create a restore point (name it "Before Litestep") or something, then bingo.

If it won't work, restore to "Last known good configuration" or whatever the exact option is in WinXP's boot menu (Press F8 before the WinXP logo pops up)

I'm almost positive that you can create another account on your computer, and install lightstep on that one user account, and the other user accounts remain unchanged.

Of course, incase I'm wrong about that, make a restore point anyway.

mainly i'm using linux but sometimes i use windows. in windows i'm using litestep with a selfmade theme that looks like my fluxbox selfmade theme.
i've never had any problems with litestep. if you want to deinstal that thing, you only need to press the "activate explorer" button to deactivate litestep and then you can unistal it without any problems.

Eh... I used it once and I didn't like it. It's not as powerful as Exlorer when dealing with desktop icons and such. The start bar kept popping up anyway

I'm still looking for some cool GUI mods if anyone can recommend any. Thanks

I hate to be the one to say this but...
Litestep is basically the best GUI mod you can get....

Here is one example (my desktop) of a combination of litestep and styleXP.

My style? Lol no it's not.
The one I use is a clone of the "Watercolor" skin from the old Whistler beta.

This is quartz btw: quartz
