Lucky you.

Our neighbors would likely slam the door in our face if we asked

They rode on our wireless for months before they got DSL. It's only fair.

Well, it's good that you'd get compensated. I know of way too many services where they will charge you, regardless of the fact that the system was down.

Oh well, sorry to hear about your lack of Internet, and I'm glad to hear you have somewhere to leech from. Reminds me, I wonder how many people leech off the wireless at my house....

Generally most routers allow you to find out how many IPs are assigned from it (thereby telling you roughly how many computers are using it).

At least ours does... this is the only computer using a wireless connection, though

Yup. His does that too. Again, we asked him first. Additionally he runs his own business and is pretty much out all day every day, so he doesn't really mind.

We have 104 houses in this neighborhood, and we reach around 6-7 networks in our radius of I guess 30-40 houses. So it's very packed.

Many people have the newest hardware, good routers and W-LAN stuff, but the networks are open very often; so with little work you won't need an own internet connection at all when you want to surf outside

Some time ago my ISP shur down my connection a month due to a wrong entry (I moved, so I gave the order five weeks ahead (!), they disconnected it too early ), without Internet it is not that major problem - but without telephone ...
I got the monthly fee back in full, anyway I couldn't phone at all

I'm tempted to do something like:
*DarkSlaya points at Jesper and laugh.

But since I'm a good guy and all, I'll just say that it does suck to be without internet (or without your computer).

Besides which it would have to be named SOL to make sense.

I have a feeling this means zem.wootest.net will not be restored anytime soon.

AOL Canada wasn't named COL.

And he's stopped with the server entirely, look back a few threads... he's gotten actual hosting, and is restoring such things.

I think.

AOL in Australia remained "AOL", they just called it Australia Online.

And it SUCKED.

.... I wonder if they've died yet... their customer service was so appalling it wouldn't surprise me if they had little market....and besides, most users are more likely to try to support an Australian company than one from overseas.

It's been 10 days? Geeeeeez.

This is when you call your ISP, bitch at them and force them to give you a cheap package deal to make you stay with the service.
