What I've wondered is why Yoshies are born with saddles on their backs. Is it possible that they are not man-made saddles but merely a soft shell similar in appearance to Buzzy Beetle shells? They look a lot like it. It seems more natural than a saddle... |

| Aren't Yoshis supposed to be descended from the same things as Koopas, though? Maybe they're just regular shells that developed really wierdly. I can't see any evolutionary advantage to it, though, as nothing can be carried on it since it's a curved surface, and it protects almost nothing... Maybe all the vital organs of a Yoshi are located directly under it? | |||

| I myself never thought of it being that way, but they do have saddles in YS I think, and those are new born Yoshis. They also are born with shoes, or things that work simular to shoes, allowing them to walk acrost the nipper plants in SMW, but not in any other game. | |||

| Or, the shell could protect the Yoshi's spine from breaking during the egg laying process, keeping it straight instead of allowing it to bend with the egg. Yes, the shoes have puzzled me for a long time... notice how everything wears shoes? |

| Maybe the shoes of YI weren't good enough to handle walking on spikes, until one day, after a long and heated debate, the yoshi clan decided to create better and slightly more invincible shoes just before bowser captured them all in SMW. But in real life, yoshi's feet are invcinsible in SMW because yoshi is considered a type of power or benefit. In YI you ARE yoshi and so things like spikes are necessary to ad challenge to gameplay. but can't he still walk or squish the nipper plants in YI? |

| Cheep-Cheeps and Bullet Bills don't wear shoes because they don't have feet. Bowser doesn't wear them because his claws would rip them. Yoshi can walk on Nippers in YI because you just kinda squash them. Otherwise, everybody else has them. Wait, weren't Yoshies born with shoes? Hmm... maybe they aren't shoes but layers of thick skin on their feet to protect them from the harsh tropical enviroment (and spikes). Kinda like horses... and cows... | |||
