Hi folks,

so here it comes... the 1st demo of SMW-ALTTP!
Download -> http://k-schale.50free.net/smw-alttp-d1.ips

I'm still looking for someone to host it 'cause my current provider limits me to 50 megs of traffic per months.

Some screenshots:

The title screen.

A secret area.

Ripped bob-ombs from Yoshi's Island. Didn't actually ever be seen in the game. But they were inside. Uncompressed.

An older overworld shot.

Lunar Fortress.

Note that all levels except for Lunar Fortress are in early beta stage and therefore mostly short and easy.
Please tell me any bugs, suggestions etc.

GreetZ
& have fun,
Blacky.

Looks awesome! But, I have 2 questions for you:
Is everything in the game really that rounded?
How did you get those light beams in the castle?

Rounded? Don't know what exactly you mean, but if you mean the screenshots... I use this "Kreed's SuperEagle" filter from ZSNES and SNES9x, and it's also on the screenshots.

The light beams... the bright ones are done with Level mode 0x1F. The dark ones are ASM-hacked.

Looking nice, I'll download it later.
The graphics look so 'rounded' because his ZSNES Filter uses anti-aliasing.

Hmm, a quick playtest revealed an issue with the bob-omb's feet being visible below the bushes -- also, are you really intended to run and jump off that ledge in the beginning? There's a little bump right as it levels out at the end that makes you slow down; very frustrating, heh. You can see a sharp change from dirt to background on your left after coming out of the yellow pipe in the first level.

As far as design goes, the levels seem a little sparse, but the palette, gfx, and overworld editing are certainly top notch .

EDIT: The message box in Island Secret 1 reads "vulcanic", should be "volcanic". On that note (*grammar nazi*), "Watch out or you'll get roasted" is a separate sentence and should be separated from the previous one by a period, not a comma.

@Coby: I use SNES9x. But I think the filter is same.
@Escherial: (Bob-ombs) Yes, I should put them 'bit higher.
(grammar) v(u/o)lcanic: My fault. I am in year 8 of a german school. How much of German did you know when you were in year 8?
watch out etc.: Nasty little misprints.
(Levels) I weren't able to do anything against the slow-down point.
And... have you yet been to Lunar Fortress? It is so far the only complete level. Others are quite betaish.

That looked pretty nice, so before I even stuff it in my ZSNES directory; http://wootest.net/smw-alttp-d1.ips. Enjoy, and get in touch with me on AIM and we'll work something out for when you need to upload new demos.

That's very nice! I'll comment more later. One evil thing tough; If you press down in Subduction (forgive my spelling :o) Zone, it will lead you to a Level 0 spot, and then you can't press up again to return, so I was stuck, and because of my stupidity, I savestated there and had to restart the game from a new save. Oh well.

EDIT: Oh, and just to clarify, I meant the "secret" Subduction Zone accesable from Island Secret 1.

@blackhole89: I didn't mean to give any offense, but I'm not writing a hack in German, am I? Also, nice job on Lunar Fortress the lighting effects really paid off as well as the Yoshi's Island gfx -- now all you have to do is add a bit to the other levels and you'll have a solid hack .

I would suggest making the levels longer...they are quite short (except the castle.) There are also a few minor glitches, such as the fireball "splash" sprite, and try using solid edges for the foreground in the first level (in the room with the key). Other than that, it's a nice hack, I especially like the new OW colors.

Hey, by the way, were you inspired by BMF's hack? I remember at the end of his demo, he wrote in a message box "A journey that'll take you through time and space." I noticed you have the same thing at the end of your demo.

Really? Did I? *digs out the old demo from the emulation folder* Oh, actually... All been melted together in my memory... 'll have to change that for Demo 2...

(room with the key) Which one do you mean? The first level is outsideish and has no rooms at all.

This would be better if the levels weren't so short... Also, you might wish to edit the title, as it gives one the impression it has something to do with Legend of Zelda: LTTP which is clearly does not.

@SM_Gamer: Overworld is not that complete yet. Levels, except for Lunar Fortress (not Castle!), are in pre-beta state. I'll watch out to release a second demo too

@Kyouji aka Blisseh: Levels - see above, Title screen - I'm currently working on inserting LoZ 3's famous sword inside (running short on palettes )
