A bit of advice for CT hacks: Many roms have debug rooms that allowed the programmers to skip to various parts of the game to test stuff out and not have to play through the game to get to other worlds, locations and changes. I think it's a good idea for people to code one themselves, a room that won't be in the final, just have people that warp you to locations upon talking to them, different time periods, a good little space that will help with getting places and such, like an in game shortcut. When the hack is complete, it can be deleted, or left as a secret of sorts.... all kinds of possibilities. There seems to be one left in Chrono Trigger, though it has no real map. I was able to make the event playable by switching it to Millenial Fair, change the X/Y positions of the 3 sprites (two prehistoric guys and a cooking smoke sprite, the two guys warped you to some endings, and the smoke wrote something to Memory, though I'm not sure what just yet..) |

Ive started work on a Event Editor Guide, it will take a few days, mainly because im still getting use to the editor, and learning it still, so when I know most about it, it should be done...I know this will help some people out.

While we await the bottom of the list, anybody care for a Tile Molester XML file for the playable character sprites/colors?

This editor is very nice. I must say, you put a lot of time into this, Evil Peer, and your efforts are definitely appreciated. It took two days, but I finally managed to place a timegate in Crono's Room. I can get most of it to work. The closed gate npc for some reason covers Crono's sprite when i walk near it, and I'm still getting the hang of coordinates. Now if I can get the gate to open up and have Crono walk out on the other end, I'll be good. I'm having it teleport me to Lucca's Room at the moment. Once I figure that out, I feel I can get most other things to work. I am very glad such a powerful editor was created! Thank you.

The closed gate npc for some reason covers Crono's sprite when i walk near it Try messing around with the HideSprite command. Value 3B paints a sprite over everything. 22 gives a sprite normal priority. 00 Hides it behind everything. I am not sure about other values. If that does not do it, you may need to change the order of objects in the file. I have only had limited success with the latter though. ---Evil Peer |

I'm having a small difficulty; I'm using {1FF Empty Map}, Map 3, L1+2 Palette 18, L1+2 Tileset 32, L3 Tileset 3. I've tiled over a good half of the map, but the bottom third simply cannot be drawn over in Layer 2. Layer 1 works fine, however. What's wrong?

I've tiled over a good half of the map, but the bottom third simply cannot be drawn over in Layer 2. Layer 1 works fine, however. What's wrong? I would have to find which Location originally used map 3, but my guess would be that Layer 2 is a scrolling layer (thus smaller than Layer 1). When you are trying to paint tiles in the lower portion, TF is detecting that it is outside the bounds of the map for that layer and ignoring your input. Three things to note. Temporal Flux does not yet support Map expansion (I know how to do it, I just have not written the code). Location 1FF is (at least for the Overworlds) a special value that does not translate to a real location. And I would not suggest using anything higher than 1EF (I would guess that the 1F0 range is reserved for Overworlds). And finally, when you are editing map 3, you are editing it for every location that uses it. I think map 3 is somewhere inside the Black Omen (IMS). ---Evil Peer |

Understood. Alright, I'm going to pick an old location in Chrono Trigger that will not be used in the project. Is there any easy way to locate and decompress certain tiles, edit them outside TF, and then insert them back into the ROM? I'm playing with the idea of a Zeal at night. |

Tile Molester XML file, rightclick, save ass. Just because I can. What can people tell me about CT's sprite assembly data? I just might be able to whip something up... Edit: the xml file goes in Tile Molester's \resource\ folder and should mirror your CT rom's file name. (edited by Kawa-oneechan on 11-27-04 01:30 PM) |

I attempted to play around with the sprite assembly, but my knowledge on such things is lacking. Here's my notes on them though. A tool, or editor for this would make me a happy chicken...custom sprites, and the ability to peice them together ... Character Sprite Assembly starts at 1C27B0 Each frame of Crono's animation is a total of 40 bytes each. 32 of those bytes are 2 byte integers that determine which tile of graphics are used to piece him together, from 00 and up. The 32 bytes are followed by 8 bytes that determine (I think) how the 32 are distributed, like Crono's death animation is wider than it is tall. Also, thanks for the XML file, I think I'll have some fun with it now.. -------------------------------- Here is my largely oudated compressed graphics description list. This might help with graphics editing a little bit. I'll update this now that everything is released. For now though, just subract 200 bytes from all of these offsets (or just re-add the header with SNEStool and use these as-is). -----------------Chrono Trigger Compressed GFX Addresses WIP----------------- ---------------------------Last Modified 7/20/03----------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 031400 - Arrow, Numbers 0-9,Letters A B C D E F 038200 - Title Screen Graphics or epoch choose a time (Title) 0410B8 - map tiles 041F3A - map tiles 042E32 - map tiles 043CA0 - map tiles- Town 044A39 - map tiles- more town 0457D7 - Guardia Castle, Town Lighthouse, Well 046623 - map tiles 0474C2 - forest map tiles 04824F - Cities in Domes 049033 - map mountain 04A045 - map mountain and other 04AF56 - map houses 04BF49 - map domes 04C904 - map trees and some building 04D5FF - map tiles? 04DD31 - kingdom of zeal map tiles (and that blue transparent triangle dome) 04EA82 - More zeal map tiles 04F9AF - clouds 04FF72 - unkown 050200 - background, clouds of some kind 0510E8 - clouds, rocks 052026 - more zeal, waterfall, rocks.... 05301C - more zeal 053EC9 - clouds 054C9B - trees ? 055C48 - mountain from prehistoric map I thinik... 0567A5 - volcano 057351 - bottom part of volcano with lava and a giant crater 058200 - map castle, more rocks 058D02 - Path Leading Into The Mountainside (map) 05915A - map stuff, mountain, little craters....other stuff 0599F7 - unknown 059A48 - unknown 059AAC - unknown 040200 - Overworld Map Tiles (Map) 059C56 - Character Map Sprites (Map) 05B314 - Epoch Map Sprites (Map) 05B998 - Lavos Map Sprites (Map) 05C8ED - Black Omen Map Sprites (Map) 05CF21 - Map Boat,Map Vortex,Map Balloon (Map) 05D797 - Smoke From Houses (Map) 05DA0B - Question Mark Map Year (Map) 05DC88 - Map Birds, Map Years, Map Epoch (Map) 05E2F7 - Top of Magus' Castle (Object) 05ECAF - single round map object 05EF14 - Map Dactyl (Map) 060200 - Mt.
