This is for the coliseum, which is currently on the Guardia Castle map. If we... -Used 2.0 to put it on another unused map (expanded of course) -Brought in two fresh unheadered roms -Totally erased Guardia Castle in one -Made a patch with the erased Guardia Castle map as the original Could we apply that patch to the coliseum rom to reinstate Guardia Castle as it once was? If we have to, we can simply remap the entire thing, but just in case... |

Probably not. Not if this is all done with Flux anyway. The nature of the dynamic data relocation would tend to mess things up. That is why the release after v2.00 will be entirely devoted to the whole export/import thing, so as to get around this sort of problem. ---T.Geiger |

Ported from the Compendium main page: After the big birthday bash only a couple weeks ago, some fans have been questioning the future of Chrono Trigger. Even if Chrono Break is made, the first game will still stand out as the one that created a dynasty and a huge influence on the RPG genre. Like the classical worshippers of antiquity, gamers will still pay respects and attention to the source of such quality. It's no surprise then that Chrono Trigger is still being rejuvenated and rediscovered! Leading these efforts clearly and boldly are the Temporal Flux team and RPGOne, who are retranslating the game. Thanks to Chickenlump, JLukas, and Geiger, players can now edit the ROM to suit their whims and fan project aspirations, and because of Sky Render, ChrisRPG, and Phantasia Knights, players will have the chance to play Chrono Trigger as it was released in Japan. The thought of all the text Woolsey cut, censored, or accidentally altered is riveting, especially to Chrono theorists, who can't wait to find juicy plot points that have been long kept hidden behind the barrier of language! The event will be a veritable rebirth, and because of the efforts of these two groups, I wish to honor and thank them on behalf of the Chrono Compendium. Here's to you! |

Zeality, I hate to be a noodge, but Ted Woolsey is not at all to blame for the deficiencies in CT's and FF3's translations (and there really aren't that many, though CT was cut more). He did the best he could given Nintendo's rules and the unyielding strictures of having only so many bytes to work with. Japanese can pack more information into fewer bytes, and this isn't Ted's fault. (Yeah, I know there are table tricks to assign long strings to single bytes and such. But in general, less memory is required for Japanese than English; this is even more true for other European languages.) I've played both versions and enjoyed seeing the small references to outside events that never made it to the English version, but the game is still complete even if you only play it in English. That defense of Ted Woolsey aside, you, Geiger, and the others have done so much for this game. I'm anxiously awaiting the full version of that fantastic demo. |

Are you sure you do not have the file open in any other program? Temporal Flux requires exclusive write access. Someday, I should write a graceful error message stating as much. ---T.Geiger |

Some of these questions have been asked of me. I thought I would post them here in case anybody was curious. Q) Is Temporal Flux dead? A) No, but it has slowed to a glacial progress. Q) I thought 2.0 was supposed to be out in June or something. A) It was, and it would have been.. but I lost my previous job. While I was massively underpaid, it did give me some nice pluses, like plenty of spare time and access to the latest tools. Q) Why is it taking so long? A) Because I now have about 5 hours per day to do things I previously took about 14 hours for. Given that a number of these items are vital, like eating for example, and it leaves little time to concentrate and code. Add to that the chaos of commuting 150 miles to work and living in two different cities, and, well, hardly anything gets done. Q) Well, when will 2.0 actually be out? A) I would really like to think it would be by or on the first anniversary of the initial release, but that seems unlikely given the number of bugs to smooth out. Q) Open source it! A) Since I make a living from writing software, the concept of making my own copyrighted work open source gives me chills. I have no plans to open source this, or any of my other full projects. If at some point I should call it quits though, for whatever reason, I promise that the source will be passed into capable hands. As I get more and more paranoid about life in general, this may happen anyway, just so the project will survive me. Q) Nuts. Well, how many bugs are left? A) As of this post, there are 11 open bugs. Some are minor, some are not. I can answer any other general questions you may also have on this topic. ---T.Geiger |

Just noting something interesting. In the last week, the 2.00 preview at the CC has gotten 619 hits out of nowhere, almost matching the new Chrono Trigger Resurrection interview in popularity (it received 700 hits this last week). I'm not aware of anyone linking it, since I check referrers, but it appears it's been making the rounds somewhere.

So, if an anniversary release is unlikely (which would be Nov 11 if I remember correctly), then what would be?

The technical anniversary is 11/24, but I am looking to release it the day before Thanksgiving if at all possible (which was what I was really targetting last year). I am closing in on some of the bugs, but I only have three weeks left, so it will probably not happen by then. As for when it will happen, I simply cannot say, for all of the reasons mentioned above. ---T.Geiger |

Look to the left, the word 'Event' itself is a blue color. Click it, and the event editor will open up.

So, is 2.0 going to be able to edit Overworld Tiles and make them solid and/or able to make them an exit.

I believe the tiles are predetermined to be solid or not; for instance, the mountain tiles automatically are. I suppose this could be edited, but no idea. And you can make exits with 1.7.

I know. I mean could you make the tile an exit tile. Like if you go onto the tile and stand still you can enter a new area. Cause if you can I don't know how.

Overworld tile properties are editable in the current BETA. Still, you should not go nuts with the exits, as you cannot land on them. ---T.Geiger |

Face it geiger. Your thread will never post as much as Mario64 Amazing Stuff. so it doesn't matter how much you post in your own thread. Thought someone finally had to tell him that like I'm stupid not to know.... |
