Kind of a late start a bit this year, but yes they are definatly on. This year, there will be a few changes in the way things are done. One major change is that only 100% completed hacks can be nominated (with exception for the Most Promising hack), and they have to have been made this year. Any editors that are completed and still are somewhat actively updated during the year can by nominated again. The current catigories and a few nominees are:

Now before everyone gets in an uproar, this is NOT the final list, nor is it time to vote yet. This is just so everyone can put there 2 cents in and say who SHOULD be up there. So feel free to say a few names so I can put them up there. Voting will start on 1-2-05 and end on 1-12-05. The winners will be announced on 1-13-05.

Yeah, you cheese-head (inside joke), where's MY editor? Underappreciation continues! [/sarcasm]

I can't nominate my own stuff.

I'll get back to you on what I nominate...

Ok!

I had hoped for that I would this year be able to release Epic Battle - Impala Kart Courses. Though some hard slow down on the part of the graphics have pushed the release to 2005. Perhaps it can still be nominated for most promising? Screenshots and information on my website.

Another nominee for most promising should be Zelda III Challenge - Quest for Calatia. I know this one has been in the works a long time, though GameMakr24 is working harder than ever on it. You can read all about it in his Zelda3C diary.

Overall it seems to haven't been a very special year for ROM hacking. I really wouldn't know of a "Best hack"...but maybe the release of Temporal Flux will change some things.

@Chaos Force: you gotta create a category for the most annoying apprentice rom hacker, i'm sure we can come up with a few names :p

If it's ok, I would like to be removed from nomination of most innovated hacker. I won it last year (well, most influential) and believe that there are other well deserving hackers out there.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I WOULD win, but the chances of another hacker winning are a lot greater if I wasn't in the running... I guess you could say I could turn into the Ralph Nader of the AHA awards

But that doesn't mean I don't want my new hack(s?) for nomination for their respective awards

(btw, Im DahrkDaiz...)

Ok!

You might also want to give arguments about why someone is nominated for innovated hacker.

Like he/she made a new editor (Eggvine) or a hack of game never done before this way (Temporal Flux) etc. This might make it easier for people to choose.

I'm still searching for some other hacks to be nominated.

Darn my secretive nature (I have a hack going that could easily be one of the most promising, but I've released nothing as of yet, nor do I plan to)

Also, Megaman Vortex should also be nominated for best changed graphics. The screenshots alone are jaw-dropping in nature, and the fact that he drew such wonderful stuff on the NES from scratch clearly makes him a candidate for that category.

Ok!

Only 100% hacks can be nominated...so Mega Man Vortex can't be nominated in that part.

As for another nominee...should Pok

Dcahrakos: Yep, it will.

Another good question: what makes a hack "complete" enough to be added to the list? After all, if you stopped a hack entirely for any reason (but it was, say, 50% done), then wouldn't it be considered finished by the creator?

And not only that, but all of the first 5 catagory links go to www.tekhacks.net, which isn't even up (404)... which leads me to believe that you didn't really poke here for anything, else at least onefromanother board would've shown up

'tis a shame, I was wanting FCEUXD to get in on this. It will (hopefully) have a christmas release, so It will be out before the end of the year.

Being "complete" would be as the hack is totally finish and released in its final state with all levels completely done.

How about adding a 1337 data finder catagory? Of course that's kind of like asking for an award straight out instead of having to compete for it.

No categories for sports hacks?

Not just because I want people to play my Baseball Simulator 2 hack/translation, but because I want to know about other worthy sports game hacks that are fun to play.

I'd like to say that I think a hack can be considered finished even if all the levels aren't done, that's not because there are x levels in a game that you have to changed each of them ; Moreover, that's not because all levels aren't done in a hack that it can't be good...
Also, wouldn't Temporal Flux go in the editors section ?
And why not add SMOdyssey in most promising hacks ?

[out of subject]
