The thread title's pretty much self-descriptive, but I'm trying to remember the name of a movie or TV Show that I clearly recall watching back in second grade or sometime around then.

The only part I remember about it was the main character (I'm assuming) had to get through some weird gates. The first one was two big horse-statue things (actually, they might've looked like chess pieces, but I don't play chess, so I wouldn't know ), facing each other, and of course a fair distance apart.

Every time the guy tried to go through the gate, lasers (or something similar) would shoot out towards him from the eyes of the two statues I don't remember how, but he got through them, and it showed him on the other side. Some person on a horse rode past, and waved at him The other one I remember was all elaborate 'n stuff, green, blue and white colored if I remember right, and it talked to him, of all things. I think it asked him questions, and he had to answer them correctly to get past, but I never saw if he did or not, 'cause our teacher turned it off after that

Those are some pretty vague hints, if you ask me, but they're literally all I remember about watching whatever it was. I'd like to find out the name of it, because ever since I remembered it a couple months ago, it's been bugging me to find out what happens It's probably fairly old as well, since I'm positive we watched it back when I was in public school.

I'm not certain if it was a TV show or a movie, because our teacher brought it in on a video tape, so for all I know, he (or she) could've recorded it off the TV.

Hopefully someone knows what I'm talking about, so if you can help, thanks

Sounds to me like Atreyu passing the Spynx gates in The Neverending Story.

The Neverending Story. That does sound vaguely familiar. I looked up one site on google that had some screens from it, but I didn't recognize them, since, like I said, the only part I've seen of it is those two gates

I found a place where I can get it (for free, of course ), so now I just have to wait for the download to finish and see if it is what I'm thinking of.

Thanks for the help

Odd. I clicked the link and the picture loaded fine I don't remember seeing that gate, but it still seems like I've seen it somewhere before

Like with my reply to Legion's second comment, I don't remember seeing one, but if there was, it could've been on a part we didn't get a chance to see

Oh it's definately the "Neverending Story".

Classic film

If you don't remember the "Flying dog" as Legion put it (Falcor certainly looks more like a dog than a luck dragon doesn't he?). then how about the bloke racing a snail or the large Rock bloke?

Sounds a lot like The Neverending Story, yah. It's actually a trilogy, but the second movie is crud, and I've heard the third is even worse (haven't seen it). The book is great, though.

It seems that's the way you turn a good movie into a crappy series. Just look at The Matrix. Look at The Land Before Time and it's 18,000 sequels for chrissake.
