| Ok. Lets start with the obvious. If you get drunk and punch someone in the face, you get charged with assault. This proves that you're responsible for your actions even while you're drunk. But wait! You cant consent to sex while you're drunk! This proves that you're NOT responsible for your actions while you're drunk. So which is it? Laws arent about conforming to the wills of society. Laws are about order. You cant keep order with laws that conflict meanings with eachother. I say: If you get drunk, you should be responsible for your actions either way. If you commit a crime. If you consent to sex. You are responsible for your own actions. I personnally see no difference between getting drunk and punching someone in the face and getting drunk and having sex. Both include you getting drunk and making an impaired decision to do something you normally wouldn't do. So how can people say that there's a difference? I think the "you cant consent if you're drunk" law should be removed. People will think more before drinking. | |||

| I think if someone gets drunk, it's their own choice to do so. Even if they're under peer pressure to, they have the ultimate choice of drinking or not. So there's no real difference to me, with the example you gave (getting drunk / punching someone in the face) I haven't made any attempts to get drunk in my life so far, with the exception of a weekend where I was made to have a bit of Vodka mixed with pop. I don't think I ever will either, mainly because of the things that can happen after you've had a bit too much to drink. This is probably a stupid question, but the 'You can't consent if you're drunk' thing. What does it cover? Everything, or just specific things. If it's everything, I can understand why you think the law should be removed. |

| Let's look at it like this. Let's say you and a few buddies just got back from some spectator sport that would naturally physically harm someone. You guys decide to get a few beers, and maybe pick up some chicks. After all, after seeing some sweaty men all day, you need to reinforce your machoism with some cheesy-ass pickup lines on women that wouldn't fuck you unless they were dead drunk. Oh wait, that's right, unless they were drunk. According to some studies (I'll get refrences later), men are usually more aggressive when drunk, and women are more, well, sexually active. Let's remember this fact for a later time. Now, you and your two other friends are drinking some beers, but you're hammered. I mean, Reverend Daniels did some preaching to you. This is where my scenario splits off into two parts. First, one of your friends: He's a pretty light drinker, which means he's always never or a little drunk. Anyway, he sees this hot girl over at the bar by one of the restrooms. You and your other buddy sit at your table and watch him talk to this girl. You see him talking to her, she laughs, and he buys her drinks. Lots of drinks. After a while, you can tell that she's not even conscious anymore. Then you see him ask something (We'll assume it's "You wanna fuck?") and you see her make some sort of drunken hand motion pointing at herself and yells "fUck ME? wHy NOt?" extremely slurred. They go into the bathroom, and that's that. Now, back to you and your buddy. Let's remember now that you're extremely smashed. After your friend goes into the bathroom, your other friend sitting with you makes some sort of comment (You don't know, you're just hearing wah wah wah). Now, this offends you, so you reach over and slug him. Wah wah wah is very offensive in some parts of the world. Well, at least one. You think. But you still slammed your fist into his upper jaw pretty good. Next day, you wake up on the street in front of the bar, and you taste piss in your mouth. You don't remember anything from the time that your friend entered the bathroom to now, but your nads do hurt a bit, like they've been kicked. Ouch. You look around, and there's cops everywhere. Your buddy who screwed that girl last night seemed to do it without her consent, and he's being charged with rape. Just then, you get picked up by one of the cops, get turned face down, and are handcuffed for brutally hurting your other buddy, who just barely managed to make it out of a fight with you. Now, let's look at this. The rape scene between your friend and the girl was obviously only with one person's consent (and there was no protection, oh my =O). As drunk as the woman may had been, she still did not consciously consent to sex with your friend, and she also now needs an abortion. As for you, it's a whole different story. You actually brought physical violence into this, where the woman was just being used. As you can tell, the laws on crimes based on alcohol inhibition is based around what people act like when they're drunk. For men, it's violence. For women, it's higher sexual activity. And as you can see, you are wrong =D |

When you're under the influence, you know what you're doing...You may not remember it when you come out of your stupor...But you simply don't care when you're drunk. You know the old adage of the guy knockin' up the ugly girl? She didn't really take advantage of him, or the ugly fat guy (ala moi) getting it on with another drunken person...No one is being used, they both know to an extent what they are doing. But simply don't care. But this is just my drunken experience. Each individual case needs to be looked at from the point of view of an individual case and you can't group every single instance into one big clump. Baddabing, baddaboom. |

| There was actually a big lawsuit about that for not to long ago in Sweden, some girl was little drunk and was raped. Against her will. Now personally, I think that your always responsible for your actions. No matter what. That's true.
