Who can't wait? I know I can't. Everything baseball is just like....right there, but time won't go any faster.... Anybody got any bold predictions? Such as Yanks loosing in the WS to the Cubs? As long as Prior stays healthy (*crosses fingers for fantasy*) the Cubs are the best in the NL. I guess this thread is anything baseball minus trivia. |

And of course this year will be the "last" for the Expos... ...although at this rate I see us sticking around until 2010. Nothing ever gets done between MLB and potential buyers. |

Remember the Twins? Going to be wiped out, then they go on to make the playoffs for 2 years straights. Haha, I be that made MLB a little mad. |

I am crossing my fingers for Prior too... I think Houston right now is the team to beat in the NL, not the Cubs. But I am a huge Cubs fan, so I have to root for them no matter what. I think we have a chance to make it back to the playoffs, and who knows what could happen from there But Houston's picked up some pitching, and their offense was already pretty scary at times... I am holding my breath for my Cubbies |

1) I heard Prior will be starting on the DL...this had best be false 2) The Astros don't scare me much. Maybe their offense, but 2 old guys the Yanks released. And the Yanks are good with releases. *edit* Clemets retired, I know. (edited by Toxic on 03-23-04 02:22 PM) |

I'm still going for Boston (even though it's not my hometown or anything) ... and if it's anything like the last few years, they'll be the best 2nd (behind the Yankees in their division), and that's almost all I look at

Well, ALL of Boston would probably kill for a world series appearance by the Sox. I'm not sure it will happen, but I can be optimistic. |

Originally posted by Toxic Pfft. If it'll help... Anyway, the Red Sox and Yankees are basically even, talent-wise. The acquisitions by the Yankees really are more psychologically damaging than hurtful to us on the field (A-Rod's not much of an upgrade over Soriano, and they're killing his value moving him to 3B), and Boston's spent wisely. Colleen: What about that rumor that the Expos might move to Connecticut? Yeah, THAT ain't happening. I'm guessing they'll be in DC and Angelos gets a nice fat buyout. |

I'm not so sure about that. It was psychological, but still They weren't giving up much on D with Soriano, and they get a gold glover and move him to 3B. That's not that bad, and he will get better as the season goes on. |

I guarantee a White Sox v Yankees ALCS. Guaranteed. I despise the Cubs and Prior is out with an inflammed achilles. He could be out til late April and that means he probably wont be able to go 7+ innings until the middle of May. It could be killer if Clement and Zambrownski start off average. Maddux is old. Kerry Wood is pitching with a robotic arm and a shitty delivery. Sammy Sosa is bound to be caught iwth the roids. And the Goat keeps living. |

No, to 90% of that. But Prior should be back in time to pitch in the home opener. Which is semi-good news for me. And I'm not sure about the...ChiSox there. |

Fourth Paragraph. http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/chc/news/chc_news.jsp?ymd=20040323&content_id=667717&vkey=spt2004news&fext=.jsp That's mid - late April. He hasn't thrown a single pitch to live batters in ST. That Achilles hurts when you throw off a mound. That timeframe is just a guesstimate. If the Cubs are smart they wont rush him because an achilles can flare up all the time during the season and then he's on the pine again. Don't count the Sox out. They have a completely different team this year. Lee, Mags, Frank, Buerhle, Loaiza will all have above average seasons. Konerko will rebound and hit at least 280/30/100. Crede will break out and go at least 270/25/80. Last year during the first half he had a virus that was killing him in the first half. He didn't get rid of it until the break and proceeded to tear the cover off the ball. Garland is currently 4-0 and throwing the ball amazingly. If Aaron Rowand doesn't excell, Jeremy Reed will be called up. Haven't heard of him? He led the minors with a .403 batting average. He hit .373 at Double A Birmingham. If Danny Wright can't secure the 5 spot then Neal Cotts, yes the Neal Cotts from NY, will. Cottsy is the Sox 2nd pitching prospect and he can throw. Don't be surprised to see the team go out and get a pitcher at the break when they trade one of their top 5 outfielders in the minors. All youngsters who could be top of the line players one day. Ryan Sweeney might be the next Miguel Cabrera. He's tearing the cover off the ball in Tuscon and is only 19. He was intentionally walked the other day IN SPRING TRAINING. Last year he was playing for his high school. Oh and the biggest catalyst to all this, Ozzie Guillen. The players already want to play for him and he'll bring a Tony Pena esque enthusiasm to the ball park every day, even Frank Thomas. I know my White Sox baseball. |

OK 1) You proved my point "should be back in time to pitch in the home opener." 2) You're being way to optimistic. How do you know all of them will have above average years? What if Buerhle and Loaiza go down with a torn and frayed rotator cuff respectively? What happens when Thomas is accused of steroids? What happens when your prospect gets a taste of the bigs and then just goes haywire? |

I just have this feeling that the Yanks won't do that goo this year. *shurgs* Going for, yea, you all know, the team that I've been going for since 1993 (just mentioning that, so no one says that I only like them b/c they won the WS last year and in '97) the Marlins. Trying to get to some games this year as well, if I have the time away from work. |

Nen, well that was given... Schmidt...dang--it seems like the Giants are going to have to work a lot harder this year. I hate to say it but I think they are going to come up short making the playoffs this year Anyways, I think as long as NYY doesn't win the WS, then I will like this baseball season

More like If George Steinbrenner dies of a heart attack, I will enjoy this season. |
