I couldn't think of anywhere else to put this one...

I've been suffering from insomnia for a long time now, and I can't seem to find a good cure for it. Right now it's not that big a deal, I lose sleep but it doesn't take away from my life as a whole. I wake up in the middle of the night, I still sleep, but I've noticed over the past few months I've been gradually getting less and less sleep. It's a bit like a problem Valcion had awhile ago.

I'm just gonna ask the question, in any case. Can anyone think of a decent cure for insomnia?

Hmm. I can think up one thing that may work off the top of my head. It didn't really have to do with insomnia, but still about sleep: stay up for as long as you're able to, but make sure you go to bed when you usually would the next day or whenever you finally start getting tired.

Otherwise, try reading or doing something similar that calms you down before you go to bed. If you still can't get to sleep, don't force yourself. Just find something to keep you busy until you do get tired

It happens to me, often. If you're stressed over something, that may be the problem. My advice would be pretty much la Karadur's. Or off course, you could always find something insanly boring, but I doubt it would work as much as anything else.

yea... I went thou somthing like this.

The best thing to do is to start geting strict about yourself. You need to get into bed and you need to do it at a regular time. The best way to do it is to hit the sack when you have to like maby 11 or 10 pm after about 11-15 times of doing this you should start to feel tired around that time and it just becomes second hand to you.

very simple really.

I find that Atavan (A drug) works wonders for my sleep.

Of course, I'm a rather special case...I doubt you can get it as strictly a cure for insomnia.

EDIT: For the sake of your health, I should probably point out that Atavan withdrawal an be a bitch.

Well, in my case I goto the bed too late. With no chanche to ease off. I tend to go "Oh wait, I must do this first. I gotta just check if he is online on MSN" or "I can't stop this conversation now". I gotten better at that part now lately thought...

I've had this problem for the last couple of years. I don't exactly wake up a lot during nights, but it usually takes me almost an hour to fall asleep at norm.

I've really never found anything to counter it, just have to wait.

Well.... my girlfriend says I'm not allowed to do the whole "sexual enjoyment" thing for a while, it's kinda a challenge to see how good my willpower is. So far I've yet to falter, though.

And that's the same case with me, I think. I usually have to stay on to do that "one more thing" or that conversation that I can't just finish. Sometimes it's homework, but a lot of the time, it's just me being stupid. I guess if I stopped doing that I'd sleep better, but the issue isn't how late I get to sleep, it's really more how much I wake up in the middle of the night. Even on nights when I haven't touched my computer, I still end up waking up. 3:00, 4:00, 5:00, and then I wake up at 5:45 to go to school. I want to try to sleep better, not longer.
