This computer I am on is missing Ws2_32.dll and even when I put the file in the Windows directory it does not work. I don't know what I am doing wrong but it is weird...

Either put the file in the folder of the program that needs it, or put it in the Windows/System (or System32 if you're on XP. Maybe for 2000, but I'm not sure) directory. Hopefully one of those works

* You need Winsock2 to use Trillian. If you receive an error message
about a missing DLL on startup (usually ws2_32.dll), please go here:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows95/downloads/contents/wuadmintools/s_wunetworkingtools/w95sockets2/ *

Is what I get from the readme file. But that is for windows 95 and will not work on windows 98. I have tried putting the Ws2_32.dll in most of the system directories but it just does not want to work....

Ok then. I just did a search in google, and I found this. I wouldn't know if the software from the link they give will do anything though, so it's up to you if you want to use it or not.

it seems winsock2 goes hand-in-hand with dial up networking and/or IP/IPX. Are those things installed?

Well that computer is a flaming poile of shit. It does not connect to the internet for unknown reasons. It sees the rest of the network but when I go to connect to google.com or anything it just says the webpage could not be found. I do not understand what could be causing all of these problems. I am very tired of that computer I just need it fixed now! Help me.

Edit: I deleated all of the networking things and reinstalled them and some how it worked. It also involved restoring original ws2_32.dll and some other .dll like iphipapil or something....
