sorry for the flakyness of my server over the past few days guys...

my provider has been having some network issues... they told me just now on the phone that it should be resolved within the next few hours... and resolved completely

Yeah, I have been noticing the page's loading slow, same with filesys.fiftypounds. But no worries, I can't complain about my free hosting and this board. Thanks for the update.

For those of us who are technically inclined and curious, could you elaborate on this?

Or did they just say "network issues" ?

Yea I figured something was up when it wasn't just Ace's but elsewhere on the server for the past few days. At first I thought it was my ISP giving me shit.

Least it'll be fixed soon.

when I call they just say they are doing "network mainteance" I'm like ummm okay.....

and they are like we know we are trying to get everything working agian....

I think what probably happened is this....

you know how if you are using a computer... or a piece of networking equipment...

it will run for like 3 years w/o rebooting... but when you reboot it... a piece of hardware just like fails ??

I think they were doing routine maintenace on their border routers... and a few of them just fucked up... and the afterefects are still being experienced

So basically they give you the runaround.

Sounds like tech support at Sympatico (ISP) from what I know... unless you ask direct questions, they're going to treat you just like any other idiot and ask you the same boring questions/give the same form responses.

So that's also why the DNS was screwy for some days ago too?

Yeah, I kinda noticed how slow the board was yesterday. The board acted quite oddly sometimes even, pages loaded halfways, stopped for some seconds there and then it loaded fully. (and that was on index.php )

Seems like it's somewhat fixed thought, the board is alot faster than yesterday. Which is a good thing.

Yeah, most places give you the runaround. It's partly that they assume you're one of the unwashed masses, and partly that they don't like to admit that something's gone awry.

I was just wondering.

I like when they tell you that a hardware device or software process may or may not have failed and it may or may not be impacting upon the packet loss you may or may not be experiencing....

I guess that's one way to fix server problems.

Which reminds me. *Moves layout again*
