| Eh, there aren't really "official" threads, but the Firefox release has been posted already in Hardware Software (cause I was so happy I HAD to post about it, yay, Firefox, yayayayayay!) It'd be a good idea to post this in there too though  There's also a mirror that FreeDOS posted in that thread as well.Course, I got mine from the Firefox site, but I don't know how -- Mozilla's servers were fairly borked. |

| OMG A NEW FIREFOX VERSION ITS AN ANNOUNCEMENT LOLOL Guess what? This isn't the Firefox Official Forum. Firefox releases are not announcements. Mabye in Hardware/Software, mabye not. I'm officially sick of all of this bullshit of trying to force a certain browser on people. Note the lame ad on the bottom bringing the tally to 5 images. It's useless and doesn't fit in (same with most of them)... hell, the only one that fits in is the Big Boards one, and that's because it's near Gold (Acmlm-related things are generally gold on navy)... this board doesn't need a "Donate" link (it's not like it's in trouble, and the money doesn't even go to the board -- it goes to the IRC network), the Hosted by 50lbs could definitely be fixed, etc, but back on topic. It seems like everyone here is trying to force people to use this browser. Between the ad on the bottom, the 10 different links in random layouts, and now this (lets post it in the general forum lololo its an announcement lololol) ... ugh. Just keep this in mind. Firefox being released has absolutely nothing to do with General. It deals with Hardware/Software. It should be in Hardware/Software. If people care, they'll look. SImple enough. < |

| Well, you did mention one thing in the whining I agree with... the images at the bottom of the board could use some fixing. Maybe standardising the button sizes as much as possible would be good At the moment they're all different sizes, it'd look better if they were a little more standard (88x31). Maybe we could even have a competition to design some new ones for some of the stuff And no, I'm not trying to push Firefox down your throat, but I do love it, just like I used to love Opera a long time ago. I used to rant about that too... it's a pity I haven't liked their recent releases, but I guess I found Firefox to fill my needs instead. |

I mean, I like cereal but I wouldn't make a big deal if Lucky Charms came out with a new marshmellow shape and then put a linked image to the official Lucky Charms site at the bottom of the page now would I? | Firefox IS alright, and yes, you're right it's not God. But come to think of it, how is supporting Firefox any different from supporting your favorite Football Team (aside from the geekiness factor, of course) ?? I would like to see more people using it. I'd like to see big, BIG support for an Open Source project, and Firefox IS a very good Open Source Project and extremely polished. I would like to see this, and other alternate browsers, scaring Microsoft. I'd like to see it scaring them enough to take better care of their customers... (although I expect they'll use FUD instead of listening to their clients...) And I'd like to see more pages designed for Mozila/Firefox/Opera/Konqueror, etc, so that we can try to get away from this "IE ONLY" thing, and have actual STANDARD HTML. Firefox has the potential to change the web, for the better, for all of us regardless of browser. I'd like to see it happen. So nyeh. |
