your my new best friend! Half Life 2 will blow Halo 2 out of the water, The trailer that I saw here was the best trailer for a FPS. Halo tried to be like Half Life in so many ways, I don't think Halo lived up to the hype in my opinion. So I don't care for that game at all. Mind you I have Xbox & PS2. Half Life 2 all the way.

So I don't like Halo at all, nor part 2 doesn't catch my eye either.

I dont see how you can say that Halo tried to be like Half life. I dont see many of the same elements AT ALL. you sound like a dipshit, kid. If you're going to joint he anti-halo bandwagon, at least try not to sound like a moron.

Halo changed little about the genre. I own Halo for the PC. On the PC, it's a generic FPS that looks very nice. I can drive vehicles, follow along with an amusing storyline, shoot things, snipe things, rocket launcher things, and if I feel up to it, I can throw a few grenades at my foes. I can do all of this, with the exception of the plot part, in a game such as Unreal Tournament 2004, and I can do literally all of it in Half Life.

I didn't say Halo was a bad game. I just don't think it's worth getting an Xbox for. Similarly, while the ability to punch people off of vehicles is certainly alluring, I doubt I will jump out of my computer chair, buy an Xbox, and get Halo 2 and join the many fanboys that think it's the greatest game ever because they haven't picked up an RPG in their lifetime.

To me, Halo belongs where all good first person shooters belong. On the PC.

Just like no game is revolutionary. Really, it all depends on the person who plays it. If they think one game is something, then let them think that way.

I do not own an Xbox, but I can get my hands on one very often... and really, I prefer Morrowind over Halo.

Don't get me wrong; halo 2 was a great game, it just wasn't as up to snuff as it could have been.

It was good, and still overrated.

The story was good, but dissappointing, ESPECIALLY at the end >(.

Hence the thread below us

Look, name me one game that has lived up to the hype after SMB3? What is that...None?

Every god damned game is going to be a let down. Now that I look at it, and played it...Warcraft III was a very boring game...Diablo II has a really crappy community (almost as bad as Gunbound ). These games had lots of hype, but in my opinion they haven't thrown themselves even an inch into where people said they would lie. Now, there are under-the-radar games that come out with no hype; Otogi, Mark of Kri, Phantom Crash, SSX (the first one). No one had heard of them until they were released, hence next to no hype was built up...BAM! Great games. This said, I've yet to play a game that has lived up to everything I'd assume it to be. Halo 2, Halo and most FPSs have their faults. They haven't been revolutionary since the first ones came out, because they were always 3D. The only thing that has really made marks on the genre are the inclusion of atmosphere (Half-Life, and other games on those levels like Clive Barker's The Undying), multiplayer (Doom II, Unreal Tournament, Quake, etc.) and alternative modes of combat (Halo, and anything else that has other ways of killing). RPGs are stagnant just in the same sense FPSs have become droning. We have come to expect every game to be a magnum opus of the entire industry no matter how little or how much hype it receives. But people are always going to have biased views on something, especially when it is a sequel to a vastly beloved game. Also, one thing that you people have failed to recognize, living up to the hype doesn't mean the game is bad. You have all made Halo 2 sound like a piece of crap, which it is far from. I haven't played a game with such an enjoyable storyline (one that includes both sides of the conflict and a hint of the third ) or such enjoyable multiplayer for ages.

Another thing, I never liked FPSs, til' Halo came about. It offered a nice and easy learning curve, and enough of everything that made it perfect for introducing people to the genre. The last FPS I played that I have enjoyed this much was Pain Killer. PC gaming is too full of BS I don't need. Especially games like CS and those sorts where the community is butt rotten bad. But, with Halo, me and some buddies hopped on with co-op and had a great time on the campaign. Something I've rarely had fun with in many FPS. And playing through that on the lowest difficulty made the game that much more enjoyable and challenged you to test your skill on higher and higher challenges. Train yourself against friends until you could finally be good enough to see a Covenent crop a feel of some nice tight marine ass.

the only problem i have with it is the lighting, in the night, its easy to miss a small crevice you have to go through(like on "Truth and Reconciliation" adn thats when you have your flashlight on) and then it winds up making the game suck because youre wandering around.

the only FPS i really liked was the jedi outcast series anyways...

im more into prince of persia, and legacy of kain:defiance right now, but i might begin to like fps again if Rainbow Six 3 and Ghost recon are any good since im getting the triple pack when it comes out.

RS3 sucked, and Ghost Recon caters to a very specific taste.

*booos people who think Halo and Half-Life are comparable*

For laughs check out somethingawful.com's review of Halo 2, a joke site yes, but it's still fun to read over.
