Universe Is Not "Billions of Years" Old

The general theory of evolution is based on several faulty assumptions. (Note: It is important to understand by this statement that we are not disputing simple variations that some call "microevolution," whose micro-changes are often observed but never lead to a fundamentally different kind of plant or animal.) The following assumptions of evolutionary theory are easy to prove false:

1. The universe is billions of years old.

2. Life spontaneously arose from nonliving minerals.

3. Mutations create or improve a kind.

4. Natural selection has creative power.

In this section we will deal with the first of these assumptions. The others will be dealt with elsewhere. If, in fact, it could be demonstrated that the universe is not billions of years old, all other arguments about evolution become meaningless and unnecessary.

Half of the stuff that guy said can't even be proved to his liking, plus the guys an idiot for thinking evolution is a religion. This is why science and Religion should never be corssed, just pisses everyone off.

Sorry. I'm just used to forums where people will only read big things if they dont have to actually click the link first. I dont understand the logic in it either. I've just chosen to accept it.

I dont see how the fairy tale of evolution is any more abstract than that of creationism.

Many ancient cultures have stories of an original creation in the recent past and a worldwide Flood. Nearly 300 of these Flood legends are now known.
Eh, yes after misionnaries did tell that story to people all over the world.

And honestly, the story about Noah wasn't only in the bible. Hell it could be a story bible took up. I'm not saying Bible is complete fiction, but there could be fiction.

FLINTSTONES IS THE TRUTH.

And ehh... it could be said. Six days have diffrent lenghts depending on which planet you can live on. For god it maybe was millions of years.

And eh, did you know that evolution still happens, scientists have seen numorous examples of fast evolution in the nature.

Calling science an religion is wrong, why? It's like calling all relgions with one god the same religion, which is not is. Science is a broad term.

You're wrong Kitten Yiffer. In alot of ancient mythology, there is something about a flood. Most of the mythologies with floods are from cultures around the middle-east and Meddiaterrn... well the ones I'm most similar with, but before you blame the flood on the Medditeran, Black, or Red sea overflowing. China, Thailand, and Japan also have myths about a gaint flood. As do the Vikings I do believe.

People did move around during ancient times so while the possibility of one tribe picking up another's religious belief does seem very possible, it can't be proven. But thats what I believed happened...

Yeah, insects are evolving pretty quickly. Some of them have developed a camouflage that makes them look like wasps and are therefore dangerous to eat for certain birds...

I actually knew about that.

I forgot to say, it appeared in other mythologies yes. And it's actually beleived that it was an actual flood but only caused an area. Not the whole earth.

Hell, I do wonder how the orginal version of Noah's story would look like. The non-bibel one.

Yeah, well Babylon is close to Israel so it's not that amazing a coincidence. If it flooded Israel it probably flooded areas around it.

The most realistic theory for the biblian flood story is that the bosporus (or whatever it is called in English, anyways, the passageway between the Mediterranean and the Black Sea which Istanbul lies by) broke through, thus causing the whole area that is being the Black Sea nowadays being flooded (in other words, the Black Sea didn't exist before).
In a recent release of National Geographic, I read something about only 12% of US citizens believing in Darwin's theory of evolution, whilst 48% entirely believe in the Genesis (aka biblian creation tale).
I wouldn't like to see this thread advance into a discussion about religion (since everybody hates me for my opinion about that, anyways... well, most of my class do), though.

So only 12% "believe" in evolutionary theories? Or just Darwin's theory?

In any case it matters little to me whether people "believe" science. Lots of people found it incredulous that the Earth was not the center of the universe or at least the solar system. And look what happened to them. They're dead. Or lurking on obscure internet boards. In any case, it's difficult to be extremely sure of something until you've experienced or observed it (say, going into space, or analyzing the layers of a glacier for past weather patterns.)

That article would make sense if we can only prove the Bible is true and God actually exists...

As for the flooding of the whole earth, I do believe Aliure said about it only flooding just that area. Remember most people thought the earth was flat up until 1492 and never knew there were other places out there.
