Man this thing is the best browser I've seen. I love it soooo much. It's like the cool tabbed browsing of FireFox except it actually reads the pages! ^^

It's based on the Internet Explorer core. Same IE exploits, bugs, and lack of standards.

I love the lack of standards in Internet Exploder! It's awesome. I get to see the page the way the webmaster intended it to be seen. Not the way FireFox sees it.

What webmaster?

Most of the sites I go to use the standards no matter if a certain browser supports them or not.

Well for example: If you go to www.gaiaonline.com and look at people's avatars with FireFox, the ones on the right hand side of the screen are backwards.

...Which is bad coding on IE's end and not on your part. Doesn't mean it was coded correctly.

Yes, some pages can only be viewed with IE even now... but that'll change down the line as Firefox gets better.

Ok. Sure. When FireFox gets better, I'll use it. Since it isnt better now, I'm not going to use it.

*shrug* Fine with me even though 1.0 is coming out... *looks at watch* ...Tuesday. So I'd suggest you take a peek at it then.

And if you ARE going to keep using an IE varient... why not Avant Browser instead of Crazy?

The answer to that is quite simple: I've never heard of it... what is it?

Avant's another IE-based browser, as is Maxthon.

But I don't see how Firefox is "worse" than IE just because some people used IE-only tricks on their site. Which Microsoft is very likely to change in the future anyway.

Firefox loads pages faster, especially on Acmlm board. That's why I use it. And it's quicker to use cached images than IE for some reason.

And well, most professional web designers are avoiding the IE only tricks. The IE tricks are an results from the Netscape VS IE wars.

Some underground pages may work with IE only - they try to use the exploits of it sending their trojans, viruses whatever by restricting other browsers than IE to work

Of course, people searching for ... "stuff" might avoid it, but this is an example how common abusing these issues still is. Just an example about repairing security holes shows Firefox:

After the first trojans using .xpi appeared on Firefox - you know the file type Firefox uses to install extensions - the developers spent Firefox an installation manager which blocks unrequested .xpis from websites the first time. You'll have to allow manually to install software if you want to using the manager. That is even for important pages like update.mozilla.org or texturizer neccessary.

This is because Firefox is open-source and everyone easily can fix any issues, while in IE you have to wait for fixes for months usually, unless it is really an extremly urgent hole (and even then, there are workarounds - like that JPG or drag & drop exploit using IE ).

I like Firefox. I like that it supports (mostly) standards compliant stuff. (the blink tag is NOT standard, but it is fun. Okay, so it's just annoying....)

MOST pages should work in Firefox, a well coded page will look the same in both Firefox and IE. The only place that should make a big difference is when Active X is used. (urgh).

I'm sorry, but I won't go near IE or any IE based browser with a forty foot pole unless I absolutely, positively HAVE to (ie, Windows Update, or the Active X based internal sites at work).

If your complaint against Firefox is that it doesn't render properly, you are clearly visiting websites that are coded by people with no clue.

Not to mention how you can customise Firefox to death!

That too.

Oh man, I forgot how irritating the blink tag is. I used it once for the first time in something like five years and I'm already irritated and annoyed. I'm sure all Mozilla/Firefox/Netscape users are.

The standards compliance, with the exception of the proprietary blink code, is good with Firefox. You rest reasonably assured that you can code something in Firefox and it will work in all other browsers -- with the exception of IE, which may weird out if you use anything remotely cool. Like CSS, or PNG.

Or you can just use it as a browser right out of the box. Simple enough for the masses yet complex enough for the know-it-alls.

Blink's OK... For a few words. If *ANYONE* ever does an all-blink post, I'll shoot them until they die 6 times over.

FireFox owns right now. The coders, unfortunately, don't. Maybe they should try and cater to its needs, instead of IE's.
