A man, around 50, sat in a rigid chair, surrounded by computer screens and various keypads. The front-most screen was black save for a small ladar display in the lower-left corner of the screen, while a couple other screens had various information on either the man or the contraption he was sitting in.

He shifted in his chair and muttered with an Irish accent, "They could have at least thought of comfort a bit when they built this." He quit his fidgting before tapping a couple keys to his right. His tactical radio cracked to life as he spoke, "I was told I could get ahold of a man named 'Melvin' here. I would like to ask him something."

OOC: No, I'm not using Rahl, and you can choose who answered the call.

The speaker buzzed, before replying with a click, and then--

NPC: This is Vito's, delivery or carry-out?

Melvin: No, this is Vito's Pizza... in New York.

He paused, before bursting out into laughter.

Melvin: Oh, MAN, I wish I could have seen your face! Seriously, though. What can I do for you?

The man smirked to himself before he continued. "I was wondering if you would be willing to help me with a problem I have. I have powered armour I need to test out for my commanders, and we went searching for the best to test it against. Your name came up.

"If you're intrested in this, you can meet me here." He typed a set of keys to his side, sending Melvin his location, which was in north-eastern Alberta, Canada. "If you have any questions, ask away."

The man leaned back. He reminds me of a younger me. This will be intresting.

Melvin scratched his chin for a moment.

Melvin: Alright, three questions. One, why Canada? Two, what manner of high-powered weaponry would you like me to bring? Three, when do you need me there?

"I'm currently on part of the Canadian Shield. There is no living person within ten kilometers of me, and no towns or villages with roughly one hundred kilometers. By conducting the test here, if a shot goes astray, it won't kill anyone." That's and my government demanded I test this armour on their land, anyway.

"I would say you shoudl bring a fairly powerful suit of powered armour, 'cause this one isn't a pushover." The man laughed slightly before continuing.

"As for when to show up, any time in the next week is fine. I'm not going anywhere."

Melvin held his hand over the phone's microphone.

Melvin: Booster, how much time for the UFO Spazer?

Booster: Twenty-two hours.

Melvin pointed at him dramatically.

Melvin: You got FIVE.

Booster:

Melvin: Nah, just kidding. Always wanted to say that, though.

He took his hand off the microphone.

Melvin: No problem, I'll be there in a day or so. But, one more thing --

He paused.

Melvin: ... Who are you?

"Mr. Shamus O'Rielly. And now I must be off." He reached over, flicked off the radio for a moment, and changed the frequency to a more secure channel before flicking it back on. "I need to be picked up."

He turned off the radio again, and typed a quick set of passwords into the keyboards around him. Most of the moniters turned off, the others dimmed to nothing as Shamus climbed out of his seat, squeased around behind it and opened a small door. He disappeared into the darkness beyond the door as the door quietly swung close.

Melvin hung up the phone, and turned, pointing a finger at Booster.

Melvin: I want Melvin Robo prepped and ready to go in less than a day, and I want all work on the UFO Spazer completed by then! Put all engineering Gims on double-time, and shift a few squadrons over from communications or something if need be.

Booster: On it.

Booster turned, pressing a finger into the red button on the intercom.

Booster: All Gim units in engineering, please report to drydock 2. Completion of the UFO Spazer is required by ten-hundred hours tomorrow morning. Squadrons 2 and 4 in communications, report to robotics dock 2 and prepare Melvin Robo for transport by twenty-four hundred hours tonight. That is all.

The following morning, Shamus was back in the same seat he had been for the past several weeks, surrounded by the same screens and monitors he had been for the past several weeks, but today was different. He was finally going to be able to test the contraption he was sitting in.

However, he was waiting for his help in testing to show up before he did anything. He simply sat in the rigid chair, tapping his hand to the clasical music playing through his radio.

(A little info on the UFO Spazer can be found here.)

About a day or so later, Melvin sat in the cockpit of Melvin Robo, his feet up on the control panel, steering with his feet. He appeared to be flying a craft that looked like some funky flying disc with wings and a tailfin, with Melvin Robo's head tacked onto the front.

Setting his drink into the cupholder, Melvin leaned over to check the navigation systems.

Melvin: Hovering over... Michigan. Estimated time of arrival... two hours.

He rubbed his hands together eagerly.

Melvin: I can only wonder what that kooky engineer's got in store for me...

Shamus did another check over everything, making sure all his weapons were in working order and all. He then waited for his laser-based radar to tell him of anything aproaching within 10 kilometers of him. Although he was on mostly flat land, the freshly fallen two feet of snow had covered his mecha, making it hard to see against the surrounding white snow.

OOC: I'll give a description of the mecha when you first see it.

Time passes. Melvin continued to sit idly, and as he entered range of Shamus' radar systems, he was eating popcorn and watching his own sensors, checking for anything of interest.

Shamus noted the approaching craft, knowing that it had to be Melvin. No Canadian aircraft were allowed to fly through an Air Weapons Testing Area.

He turned off his music and flicked on his radio, and waited for Melvin to either talk or get within striking range. I'll at least give the kid a bit of warning.

He quickly tapped a set of keys, and his suit lifted off the ground. It raised into the cloud cover, before hovering almost silently.

OOC: Yes, we're fighting in a weapons testing area. No holding back.

A large red dot, representing Shamus' mecha, appeared on Melvin's own radar inside his UFO Spazer, blinking and beeping and so forth. Melvin promptly swiveled, putting on one of those cool helmets Super Robot pilots gets, with the tinted visors and all that, and grips both of his main control sticks.

Melvin: This is a weapons testing area... So that's got to be him.

He moved to his radio, and pushed in the transmitter button, which began to glow a bright red, denoting that it had opened a channel with Shamus' robot.

Melvin: Heeeeey! Good day for a Super Robot fight, wouldn't you say?

Shamus smiled. "What ever you say."

Through the cloudcover above Melvin, a thin, white laser beam shot forth out of the clouds, aimed near the back end of his mecha. The angle could mean that it was fired by Shamus.

OOC: I'll be a bit slow in replying. Have something that's stealing my free time.

Melvin quickly jerked his right control stick sharply, the UFO Spazer darting off to the right, and easily dodging the laser.

Melvin: It's on like Donkey Kong

Shifting a hand up to the left control stick, his targeting reticule focused in on the spot where his radar indicated Shamus' mecha was.

Melvin: Spin Saucer!

Large razor blades sprout out of both the large red discs mounted to the Spazer's wings, then shoot off in Shamus' direction, ready to cut into his mecha.

As the blades were launched, a mecha dropped from the clouds in free fall, clearly Shamus' mecha. It appeared to be a ten meter tall metal golem, painted snow-camo white.

As it fell, small hatches opened on the front of the mecha, and a swarm of missles shot forth. A total of fifty micro-missles flew towards Melvin, all guided by both Shamus and their own personal radar. Each packed the same destructive power as a TOW-2 missle, an anti-tank weapon. The hatches closed after firing.

Shamus kicked back in the mecha's flight as it neared the ground, allowing it to land without slamming into the ground. He noticed the weapon list on a screen show at 5% of his missles had been launched, a full barrage.

OOC: If you'd like, I can try and get a picture of what it looks like online.

(Actually, that'd be great. )

Melvin reacted quickly at the shower of missles flying towards him. He pushed the pilot control stick forward, dipping the UFO Spazer down under the shower of missles, which quickly turned to follow him. Pitching left, he spiraled up, leveling out and heading directly for Shamus' mecha --

Melvin: Anti-Radar Mist!

A thick, purple mist spewed out the back of the tail end of the Spazer, quickly clouding up the immediate area around the Spazer and Shamus' mecha, blocking both sight and radar equipment. Melvin quickly pulled up into the clouds, leaving a swarm of blinded missles heading straight for Shamus -- not to mention the twin Spin Saucers, which were only feet from carving into his hull.
