Download a patch, either v3.03 or v1.08

And also set combitiality mode at Windows 95.

Red alert won't run in Windows XP if you hadn't patched it or installed any of the expansion packs.

Your answer as quoted from here
You need to install the game on an 9x environment, then copy the whole installation directory to the XP one. Replace the existing dll file with the new one and launch the game.

I wouldn't follow that guide since it's competly uncesseary. And well... you can't move over folders from another computer like that, Red alert won't start if there is certain registery strings. :/

You can succefully install it form XP, I have done that. With no combitality mode. Thought some users seems to have to use combitiality mode but... test without first. And hell, don't move over folders like that, Red alert will try to search for register strings. Which will not be there.

Heck I just installed Red Alert on a Windows 2000 computer.

It's my favorite game ever, and that thipx32.dll is only needed for the orginal Command and conquer: Tiberian dawn. (the windows version) since network play is fugged up.

Do not download that DLL file. It's for the first CnC, not for red alert. Westwood released that file as patch for some years ago just for CnC...

Have he tried combitiality mode then?

Some people seem to have to use it as I said.
