Well... It's about 6 months since my grandfather has died now... And I got over it, like any normal person would... In fact, I'm getting used to normal life again... But there's one thing stopping me...

You see, my mother seems to be obsessed with my grandfather... And wherever I go, all I hear is "OH, granda would have liked that", or "Oh, if only your grandfather was here". That's annoying enough as it is, considering it's been going on for six solid months.

But oh no... THat's not all. MY mam only feels happy, when we have 67 photos of my grandfather in our house (Yes, I got so frustrated, I counted them ). There are 23 in the living room ,the rest scattered about the house. This obsession of my mother's is going to drive me insane!

Has anybody else experienced something like this? And if so. Please... Tell me how long you had to put up with this... I don't think I can go on anymore with this...

What's so bad about them trying to preserve the memory of your Grandfather? I think it's a very nice and loving act. Instead of forgetting about people when they die like so many do, they want to keep the memory of the good times they had with him. Don't be so sad that he's gone rather be happy that you had a chance to know him.

I am happy that I had a chance to know him... And I will always remember him... It;s just the level of obsession that my mother has over his departure... Even my grandmother has got over it now, and she's a bit tired of my mother's obsession too .

It's probably just her way of grieving. We all have our different ways and many of them may seem strange to us.

Well it looks like your mother really misses her dad. I actually found it sad...
And at the same time I can understand why it is annoying. It reminds me of the obession that my sister haves, thought it's an obession about an group. It have been like that for one-two years now... still as annoying.

True about that legion. My grandfather on fathers side died one year before I was born...

Tell her that you get annoyed at her when she says that, but go easy on her. Death is an serious thing...

Leave her be, let her get over it, that might be the only way she can get over it.

I think that eventually she willl start thinking less and less of your grandpa until she finally stops obsessing over it. That however might take awhile depending how close your mom and your grandpa were...

pink-is-cool, check the date (right above the post) before you post, and if it's over two weeks old you shouldn't post to it because then it's bumping.
