A while back, I was playing Zelda 2, and my little brother was messing around in the back of the tv. I told him to go away, and he didn't listen, So I got mad at him, and he kicked my nintendo, and left. My system was old so it was kinda fragile thus it froze. At the time I was having trouble with the second palace (yes this was a loooong while back), So I turn on my game, play for a bit, a pause and notice, the palace was completed with glove!
(I didn't get any XP but I wasn't complaining!)

The game likely bugged up - when he kicked it, the save file probably ended up corrupted, and since you were in Palace 2... it gave you credit for it.

But don't try that again.

That's actually kind of cool

Something like that happened when my SNES fell off a table, while I was playing DKC. The level was complete when I restarted from the last save

Similar thing is possible to do on the computer, turn it off while it's doing disc operations and joy. it's corrupted.

Feel lucky that it finished the castle for you, instead of corrupting the file. It probably changed some random bytes in the battery memory, and one of them probably was about if you had finished the castle or not.

Have only seen save file corrupting once, and that was on my GBA game... it said it was corrupted when I started it. But it loaded an "older file" and continued like nothing had happened... (it was just me being unlucky, I saved while the battery was in red. The thing decided to turn itself off..)

My nephew's SNES once got a shortcut while I was completing YI, I was at the final boss, his save file got deleted. All that work for nothing. And now the game locks/reboots randomly and resets the save file.

I've had weird stuff like this happen in Zelda 2 too (on the real NES), not from the game freezing though ...

The saves just messed up by themselves (like how they sometimes get erased for no reason) ... I think I ended up with levels at 9-0-9 (yep, attack-9 magic-0 life-9), some of the palaces finished, about a dozen crystals left (more than the total palaces, so I couldn't get in the last one ), and spells required a little more points than with magic-1 (48 for Shield ) ...

The points required for level ups were also messed up, I think I was getting an extra life every 110 points

About 5 years ago, I lent Yoshi's Island to a friend and he completed it ... but when I got his back, his save was a little messed up and 2-5 alone got uncleared, none of the rest was affected

But that's the only cases I remember seeing, other than the much more frequent one of saves getting erased ...

Acmlm, how did that happen? Did you just turn on the game one day and it was just different?

I remember being at a website once that talked about Zelda 1 (and probably 2, I don't remember well) glitches, stories they've received about weird things happening with the game. I really enjoy reading about weird ass stuff about Zelda (Mario too, but The Mushroom Kingdom pretty much covers that). Does anyone know what site I'm talking about, or one similar?

The Hyrule Courtyard (I think that was its name anyway) covers A LOT of glitches for both OOT and MM. But I don't know one for Zelda 1 and 2.

Most the games i'm sick of or finshied 300+ or so times I start to do some extreme glitches a more favorable way (Zelda:OOT's "Crooked cartrage trick" or "Seam walking")

Another more crappy glitch happed while I was playing Rayman 3,
Three words... Corruped Memory Card
This sucks when you have a set of mastered games on it.

Well, they always tell you: "DON'T TURN THE POWER OFF WHEN SAVING".

Now we know why. Although I still have no idea why a lot of games said to hold Reset before turning the power off.

Hm. Either the game messed up when sending the data to the memory card or the card was defective.

But if everything was fine (no power surges, etc.), then... I dunno.

Of course, if you have a third-party card...

That's CRAZY. Same thing happened to me years ago. It was akick ass file, but we lent the game to our cousins, whom then proceeding to erase that one file with their own. I've never been able to figure that out again.
