On friday at my school, a kid first period was tackled by plainclothes cops, and dragged away. Why? He was going to shoot up the football team.

Guess who's on the football team? Yep, me.

I'm not really sure why he wanted to, but I found out like 3rd period about this. Well, actually, everyone on the team knew. One day at practice, I don't recall when, but it was awhile ago, one of the captains was joking about how the kid said he was going to do it, exactly on that day.

He brought a gun in and everything, the cops were looking for that, and I'm assuming they found it. He picked a good day too, because there was a game that night, and most of the team had their jerseys on (myself included).

Just out of curiosity, how hard of a time did you give this kid? People don't just plan on shooting a whole slew of people for no reason.

Well, some do but....

I have no clue...I'm not your prototypical jock here. I'm just on the team to play.

I can only assume that it was a moderate amount, but this is only knowing what I know about the assholes on the team. Whatever it was, gay jokes, something, is a matter of interpretation.

I can back Toxic on this one, he's the ultimate contradiction. He's a jock that plays in the school band, goes to LAN parties, does well in school, and actually thinks before stuff comes out of his throathole.

And I heard about it third period, too. Rumors were running around the high school for awhile, actually. But I thought they were just rumors.... This guy was really sacked by the plainclothes?

Yep, there were a ton of people around him too. Just totally sacked him. He was apparently laughing and shouting shit as they carried him away.

Yes I guess you can look at it that way. With me being on the football team, but I don't know what he was planning on doing, besides offing the lot of us.

Was he specifically ... after you or anyone in particular? ...

That is pretty freaky to think about ... well nonetheless, sounds like he got his ass handed to himself.

Good to hear you're safe.

I bet it was one of the captains, a real asshat that tends to annoy me, that ticked him off. Geoff Sinott is a real idiot and goes overboard all the time. I bet he did some stupid shit.

How old was the kid ? Could it be a ''money on the winning team'' thing and he didn't want to lose ? I dunno. Still, you're lucky that nothing went wrong.

He's a senior, and he doesn't exactly care about football.

And there isn't exactly a huge market on high school football betting.

The sad fact is, some people just hold grudges against people just because they play sports. Even now, I get a slight aura of contempt around anyone wearing a town football jersey / jacket.

I never really have to worry about that in my town, however. Mostly because some people think I would be the one holding the gun.

(NOTE: I wouldn't do that. Ever.)

He was a country type kid, and I assume his dad or something had it.

It's not uncommon at all for parents to buy their kids guns for some reason....idk why, but that's sort of common

Could've been as simple as just wanting to light someone up on a whim and he just picked the football team.

Or maybe someone pissed him off. Who knows unless he confesses to someone, and even then at least it didn't happen.

I guess you wouldn't be humbled by the fact that someone on that team has their own personal stalker. I know I wouldn't. But then I guess there's always the possibility that no matter what, people can get killed just like that.

It's just the majority of time, we don't put a lot of emphasis on daily though towards the subject. Birds hit the window all the time, possibly killing themselves; it's about as fragile as this could've been.

Not saying you should go through life paranoid of the fact that you may be shot at any moment and live your last moments in fear, but after something like that, I would kinda think you'd appreciate your life a little more.
