I'm not sure if anyone could help me but I recently "lost" all of my my memory on my gamecube memory card. It had 2 and half years game play on it. Its very upsetting to say the least. I'll explain how this happened, I had my american system modified so it could play japanese games. I then purchased the japanese version of Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures. I then saved a game of navi's tracker's on my memory card that also had my american save files. The next day I went to play an american game and my system told me I need to reformat my memory card and that all of the memory will be lost when I do. I chose not to reformat it. I have been unable to retrieve my american save files. They are not even listed when I go into the memory card option. I was wondering if there any programs that might be able to fix this or if anyone might be willing to work on this for me. I would mail them my memory card and pay them. Thanks for your help

1st off, this topic is not about rom hacking. and 2nd, I think that the memory cards are different in japan so the memory card is not compatible. that might be the thing because the japanese games can use different saving routines.

Yeah, japanese files do save to american cards. The problem is, you can't have japanese and american games saved to the same card. They don't mix, and you've pretty much wrecked your american save files by attempting to do this. Always keep japanese save files on a different memory card than the american files (European and american files mix, however. No problems there.)

So yeah, you're not getting your files back. It sucks, but at least you've learned what you're not supposed to do.

Something similar happened with a pirate version of Pokemon I had when I used it with Pokemon Stadium. Not only did I lose my save files, but they stopped working altogether.

Try to second guess greedy companies like Nintendo, and assume that either data will be incompatible, or the software will purposefully tamper with your data if it suspects something.

I know people think Nintendo is a peacefull company what with Microsoft making consoles and everything, but they're not. Nintendo have long been the worst ever since they hit it big with the Famicom.

That's only because you're stuck with NOE and their crappy way of not releasing games like Animal Crossing, isn't it?

Animal Crossing was released in Europe about a month ago.
