I wish instead of pain, you would just feel a sort of tingle. That'd make life a lot easier. You need to be able to tell when something hurts, but if it's something you need to do like getting a needle, it'd be nice if it wasn't actually painful. | |||

Come on! A needle doesn't hurt at all! IT'S HAPPENING INSIDE YOUR HEAD! |

Well, I think Dracoon said it best here; Pain is a distant friend and a greatest enemy. A lot of people actually get turned on by pain, Kieran's not that weird, really. Pain's a good way to know you're alive, think about it: When you think you're dreaming, do you sit there and think your way out of it? No, you pinch yourself, or you say "Pinch me, I must be dreaming!" Pain lets us know our bodies' sensory functions aren't out of whack, and it tests our response to stimuli. If you're in pain, it also generates a flow of adrenaline to your blood, which can produce an incredible high at the right times. Same goes for emotional pain, if you're feeling depressed very suddenly, you're going to get an adrenaline rush, and you might start shaking or trembling or something. Not only that, but there's also pain that lets you know something good's happening. If you run for a mile or so, and your legs ache, and then you stretch your muscles out a bit and it hurts a little, you'll note that it also feels good, because your muscles are stretching and you're using them like you haven't before, it produces another endorphinal rush. The list goes on. Pain sometimes causes pleasure, if it's the right kind of pain. There's nothing wrong with it. |
