I noticed there actually hasn't been a poll for this, but there has been a topic regarding the DS. Well now I am asking which one you think will be the best, or if they will just both be there with a great amount of buyers. Personally I believe the DS is like going to be a whole lot better, I trust nintendo with the handhelds.

I trust Nintendo with handhelds but they're going to get a good jump start on the PSP - and it's going to be up to Sony to come up with a bunch of must-have software to get them back on track to at least be a competitive #2.

I hate Nintendo fanboys. They irritate me to no end. Maybe the DS is going to be better than the PSP. I sure think it will. But what I hate is people who are like, "OMG!1!1! THE DS WIL TOTALY PWNZORZ TEH PSP!!!!11!". I just want to hurt them so much. Especially when they hate on people who like the PSP. That really is bad. All systems have something totally awesome that all the other systems dont and I believe that the PSP will have something totally awesome that all the other systems wont have. I still prefur the DS. Just dont hate on the PSP! They have something good I just know it.

They're pretty different, and we only have a few people's opinions to go on so far, so any prediction now would go by faith or loyalty. That said, I believe in the DS... but I'm going to wait a few months to buy either to make sure.

It's coming out earlier (that's why almost everyone has a PS2) and out of nowhere quite frankly, how long have you known about the PSP compared to the DS? I first heard about the DS from X-Play, didn't even from nintendo was making it, I just thought it was something that some company slapped together in a few days. Was kind-of nice to find out that Nintendo made it, I didn't want to see another portable system get shot down. |

What I would personally buy? Nintendo DS. Hell I hadn't played SM64 for years so I don't mind a remake... If PSP is really worth the money, I maybe buy that too. But it's doubtful... |

I'm gonna go with the DS. But the PSP has its upsides, like the nice big screen, but I won't buy it for the same reason I didn't buy a PS2, lacking of Games I'm interessted in. |

Just saw something: PSP has an amazing 8 hours battery life! (wow...) I wonder how many batteries you have gone through by then end of the year. I know the DS is going to be better for the shear point that it isn't a first try. Sure the $300 (I think) PSP will have 50 features no one will ever use, but the DS won't cost more than like $150 max. I am poor I will stick with the DS (yay for being poor!) |

Ok! Exactly WHERE did you saw that 8 hour battery life? No battery life has been announced yet...only an indication saying something between 2 and 6 hours...for PSP. DS got official battery life...8-10 hours... |

Originally posted by Nebetsu Really? Besides being capable of having truly massive games (due to the UMD format rather than a data card; I assume UMDs hold much more data than the largest card), what is it that the PSP can do that the Zodiac can't? I don't think the PSP has anything 'totally awesome' besides massive support from developers. Barring that, I think the Zodiac is the better of the two because it can basically do everything the PSP can and more. That said, I think the NDS will sell more because of its earlier release date, lower price, and backwards compatibility (note that the NDS is also my preference). The PSP is cool and all, but I don't see myself (or anyone, really) commonly being in the position where I'll need its movie playback features, nor does it seem to me that its graphic abilities will really play much of a factor. I'm sure many of you have seen a video of Metroid Prime Hunters; those graphics are about all anyone really needs on a handheld. The NDS has its advantages, such as a touchscreen and the ability to play multiplayer games with a single card (apparently all players will need their own games on PSP). System-wise, it all comes down to whether you prefer a large screen, the UMD format, and an analog control nub or two screens (one touch-screen enabled), cards, backwards compatibility with the GBA, multiplayer with a single copy of a game, and greater potential for innovation. The second is much more appealing to me, so my choice is the NDS, but there is also the games aspect to consider. I've always been a fan of Nintendo franchises such as Mario, Metroid, and Zelda, and I think that developers will find some amazing ways to make use of the features of the NDS to make fun games that can't be done on the PSP (whereas it seems to me that PSP games would be doable on the NDS with the obvious changes to graphic quality and screen size). If I wanted something like the PSP, I'd likely go with the Zodiac because it can also do PDA stuff (and it also has a 'totally awesome' multi-system emulator). |

I can't wait for the DS to come out. I have money put back just for it, and a few games and such. I don't hate the PSP, I have no reason to as I have yet to play it or even see it in action. I choose DS because I loved my N64, and the thought of a handheld with N64 power or greater + remakes + new games + GBA compatability. I'm sure the PSP will do alright, but I can't forsee myself buying one, not because I'm a fanboy, but because I see more enjoyment with the DS than I do with the PSP. |

I think Net's reaction is the same as mine. Judging from the number of developers lining up I think everyone has good ideas as to what to use the touchscreen for - except for Nintendo, who will presumably spew out an endless stream of 64 remakes that will probably end up using the screen for nothing more than a WMP-ish visualization... DS gets my vote, there's been so little said about the PSP that even its existance is jeopardized in my mind. |

I will stab you in the eye for bringing this up. They are not comparable, the biggest difference being the screens. I have to deal with this every damn day in school with people comparing the two, calling the DS a kiddy system and that the strap-on battery and neck collar for the PSP look fashionable. As soon as I even say something that would make the DS look better to anyone, they say "TWO SCREENS OMG THAT WOULD MAKE ME WASTE TWO MUCH MONIES ON BATTRIES MY YUPPIE PARNETS DONT PAY ME THAT MUCH". It pains me inside. Also, if I see another one of these threads, I will do something about it |
