Anybody ever take a stab at hacking this game? A while back, some people (me included) tried to hack the original F-Zero, but the complex way in which the tracks were coded made it impossible. With FZMV, I notice that the tracks and backgrounds are independent of each other (see VBA's "Tools > Map" menu), and that maybe the tracks are stored as graphics. While I can easily spot fonts, small track maps, course names, and cars (though the cars seem uneditable) in Tile Layer Pro, the actual courses must be compressed somewhere. Anyone have any info? |

It is more than likely that they are, but I haven't a clue to where there they would be. | |||

I'm going to keep hunting around until I find something. I keep hearing that the GBA is a piece of cake to hack, and that everything is laid out neatly for you, but this game has a lot of seemingly-corrupted graphics and code whose meaning is not obvious at all. But the courses and planets of FZMV aren't used at all in the sequel, and are a perfect opportunity for hackers to expand on the F-Zero universe. |
