You could use my Juicer program to insert new music from other Sappy-enabled games but that'd require some HEX editing.

You could... if it was public. Which it isn't. And prolly never WILL be from the looks of things down under.

Damn, and I was getting all excited too. But to answer the original question, you can use a hex editor and sappy to change the music. Only problem is, at least for me, is assigning specific music rather than repointing it. |

um.you can't use sappy to change music Sappy is a program which plays back music. it is also the unbofficial name for a sound engine. Why do people always say stuff without knowing about it first

having just the offsets and pointers isn't gonna do much for oyu unless you have an idea of what you are doing. The pointers are very anal and specific, and often referenced more than once...trust me, it takes alot of time and patience to get it down, and its nothing so easy as "using a hex editor". if you want to change what music plays for what map, that's a whole other story. otherwise, it's a bit complicated for most to try at first.

At least I have some sort of basic idea to work off of. Im assuming you're talking about applying specific music to specific events without having to repoint, which rocket science to me. I'm not going to deny that I'm new at rom hacking. But enlighten me on this method of yours. I'm interersted. (edited by NooNooKKM on 10-22-04 12:12 AM) |

eh, i'm talkingabout understanding what each individual value means within the sound code. so you know, you dont justcorrupt values blindly and produce garbage It might be nice to know that BC is pitchbend rate, so you dont sit there jaw dropped and flabberghasted wondering why viridan city is playing 3 and a half steps too low its good to get a feel for what you are doing. oh, and you wont get anywhere if you don't know what note on does it might be a good idea to look at some technical speicifications for MIDI commands...figure out what makes it tick, then you'll have a slightly better understanding of what goes on in one of these engines |
