They have that Teriyaki Burger, I know that.

Apparently the Filet O' Fish is good in Canada but absolute crap in the States. Likely to do with the type of fish.

Jack-Al, now I couldn't open the two links you linked to, but the first one had Shanghai in the file-name, and Shanghai is in China, not Japan.

And there is this urban legend about Ronald McDonald being a failed advertising trick in Japan because white is a face of death in Japan, or something. I tried to check it up on snopes.com, but couldn't find it.

Oh, and on references to international McDonald's restaurants, I'm sure you're all familiar with the "Royale with cheese"..

Oh, and by the way. The McDonald's restaurant in my hometown, Halden, is one out of four McDonald's restaurants in the world that has actually had to shut down because of bankruptcy. (It did, however, re-open with new owners a few months later and is doing ok now, I think).

Japan is swamped with McDonalds, and while the food is no different from other countries, the uniforms are much better looking! I can't remember the last time I saw a cute McDonalds employee in the US, whereas in Japan just about all of them look great. And there's no embarrassment in working there, unlike in other countries.

Over here in Hong Kong they have that all new 'healthy' craze going on. McDonalds just aren't as popular over here after Supersize Me came on the cinemas, apparently

Sorry about that. I was on a site that talked about japan. I didn't notice the picture was from Shanghai though.

There's only one McDonald in the part of Montreal that I live in, and all of the workers are students from the neighbouring high school. The food is done too fast, and they often make mistakes. It's even popular among kids to work at McDonalds. I remember someone telling me that he had found a job. When I asked him where, he replied: "McDonalods, of course". It's the same thing with alot of the other McDonalds in Montreal, most of them don't give a very good service. I rarely even go to McDonalds anyway. The only time I go there is when someone else insists on going to eat there.

I'm willing to bet Iraq doesn't have much in the way of American fast food.

They've got a really stupid setup going on around here. Most people live at one end of town, but they're building everything way down at the other end. It's closer to the highway, so they make money off tourists. Great, now how about those of us who need to buy food? Even worse, McDonalds is up there too. They're building a Wal-Mart right next to it - WITH A MCDONALDS IN IT! WTF are these guys on?

Well, Canada has some damn good fish.

As I understand, they wear white to their funerals instead of black, so that would make sense.

Er, the only Royale I'm familliar with is a brand of tissue/toilet paper. I don't think it comes with cheese...

[edit] Oh, and here's that pic...

Uh.. I would think that $6 ought to fill someone up. It depends on what you get. I'd probably get a dbl cheeseburger, a large mcflurry, a drink, and maybe if I was still hungry a thing of mcnuggets with BBQ. You must have an uber metabolism if you're still hungry after that.

Urgh... Depends on the McD's you go to for service around here. The one near my house is usually pretty good but some are horribly disorganized.

Of course, it depends when you go too.

Visit http://www.mcdonalds.com and check the navigation bar (or what it is), many countries with McDonald's restaurants are listed there.

But why isn't Norway there? Why, WHY? We have Mc.D. too!

And I don't think Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Cuba and such countries have McDonalds, only "U.S. friendly" countries have...

Ahm... that has nothing to do with anything. And it's actually 'L is Real 2041'

Anyway, I have seen quite a few pictures of McD's in Japan.

Yeah, in Tokyo, they DO have a McDonalds. But it's very expensive so you very well can't find one in lower class cities. Also, if you try their burgers, they taste a tad off from the ones from US, like the Splenda of burgers.

I think they use different meats, but what the hell? They always use different meats in McDonalds no matter what. Going besides the point, pig rectums are nothing I'd want to have any further discussion about...

Oh, and before I forget, there are no Ls in Japanese Ed. So don't get your hopes up...

They use the same letter for L and R, but usually pronounce it as R. (Hence things like Engrish.)

...Is that you, dad? My dad is totally paranoid that the Japanese are planning to attack, and that video games have something to do with it. He hates fun and never forgives anyone for anything. World War 2 is the whole reason he even thinks this way. I mean jeez, it was like 60 years ago! Everyone involved in that is probably dead (or at least too old to start a war) by now.

HH, actually they wear black at funerals. Maybe you're thinking of the white, black, and silver envelopes used for condolences.

Yeah, in Tokyo, they DO have a McDonalds

Raven, don't you think "a" is a bit of an under-estimate? There must be hundreds of McD's in Tokyo, and thousands in the whole country.

BTW, in Kyoto, they have the visually-pleasing idea of making the red a bit darker in the company logo so that it doesn't look too garish and detract from the already-dimming beauty of the surrounding buildings. I like this idea.

Last time I've been there (1999), there were'nt that many. Have you ever been actually been there? If you have, you'd know. But I don't expect an honest answer from anyone here so don't waste your time.

Really, I don't doubt that they've built more since then...
And thanks for rephrasing that "without" a cheeky, belligerent hint Heian KIA. The "a" part was'nt really an implication that they only had "one". Don't play dumb with me.

Raven, not so cheeky; not half as cheeky as assuming that nobody will give you an honest answer about anything.

I figured that you'd only seen one McDonalds in Tokyo. While McD's is all over the place -- even Wendy's has many stores --, there really only is one (maybe two) Taco Bell in the whole country, and very few Burger Kings. The Taco Bell is rumored to be on a US military base, but nobody knows for sure. It's like the lost continent of Atlantis or something. But someday I'll find it and order a soft taco with fire sauce and savor it in triumph.
