Here's another suggestion: close to the "quote" link, put a link to get the current post. Like, if you click it in this post, you would get http://board.acmlm.org/thread.php?id=6986&page=3#138243.
It would be a lot easier to link someone to a post.

I'm pretty sure you're not developing the shop Jester, or maybe any of the Development team, but any update on that?

Not sure if that would fit in this thread.

Since I doupt that would be released with the 1.9(something) release.

That may happen if you somehow associated pictures such as .png to quicktime.

What about an ability to hide certain forums? For example, I'm never visiting the sports forum, so I could go and check a checkbox on the options page to hide it from the forum list.

a) My name is not Jester.
b) Acmlm is doing the shop for the next version of Acmlm's Board, however I think it's pretty much decided that the shop and battle system will not be distributed with 1.95, which Acmlm's "final" version will be called. I propose that the 'hacks' community get together and collaborate on a "one true" shop system, either one hack or shared principles - like common db fields and tables, or the ability to migrate from one system to the other.

Makes sense. Will see what I can do. In that case, I'll also think about having it hidden until the description or forum title changes - in case two forums are "merged" or you block forum id, say, 50, it goes away and a new forum appears and 'reuses' the same id.

Whoops, fast typing. >< !

Well maybe usergroups would be a good idea? I'm pretty sure Acmlmboards already kind of have these, being the powerlevels, but making it so you can easily create/delete specified usergroups. With these you would be able to do things like:

1. Set special accessed forums for whoever you want in X group.
2. Easily make an entire group moderate a single forum, hence maybe Help / Suggestions would be a good forum for this. (Allowing all staff to moderate the forum)

Again, this is kind of like the powerlevels, at least I would think it's "similar". And for the ideas, I doupt they would be good for here, this place, but since this is going to possibly be a released version, other boards might like the added options.

...Again, yes I know these are on phpBB boards, but I think it would be a moderate idea for AB's.

I've been wanting something like this for literally years. Perhaps when most other things are done we'll devote the better part of one release towards implementing this. It's quite a bit of work, because a big part of the board code is based upon assumptions that only the powerlevel matters.

Question:
Why is there a category called "Computers and IRC"? I can't see anything IRC related... :s

Good one. I guess we removed the IRC forum.

I got another idea... How about adding on to the toolbar. The idea of being able to click the button and being able to post code without typing breaks inbetween. I think this would help a lot of people out.

But yeah just another idea..

The new PM system is looking great, nice work. I like the ideas of the folders.

Well like say I wanted to post some code or some other user does in the programming section. You could hit the toolbar so it doesnt interfeer with anything. Better?

Oh. Good point. That'd be another tag then, so that the toolbar would have something to insert (it must insert something - your post is just text, not text and hidden formatting codes like in, say, word).

No. He's referring to the thing with the Bold, Italic, Underline buttons. You know. The toolbar.

We've got to define the actual bug before we can fix it. How about actually going to the bug and looking at the bugnotes?

...actually I checked the bugnotes earlier that night, I was talking about not only fixing it but also finding it.

Oh, I see which toolbar he means. I have that one shut off, since i'm too used having it off and I use HTML tags all the time instead of the "[tags]".

How about a feature where it shows who voted in a poll if its public... And if its private it only shows for mods of that forum or the admins. It would be nice to see who voted what.

Right now the ONLY people that can theoretically see any poll votes are Acmlm, Emuz and ErkDog and none of them are likely to 'snoop' without reasons. I'm not up for a change on this; I think it's best the way it is now. Any sweeping changes to the poll system will come in the next release, 1.93b4, as in it's bad that editpoll.php hasn't been created b4.

By the way, I'd like to reiterate again that 1.93b3 is going up on Monday, 25th.
